Been awhile since I posted anything...

Been struggling with some personal stuff and that combined with all the Rona BS, and work keeping me busy AF, I haven't had time or been in a place to interact in a positive way...with anybody...at all...  :smt009

Things have been better recently though, and forced to actually be at my desk for the first time in a long time so figured would share some UW porn...

Between ocean access issues and SIP orders I have gotten out safely and legally here and there to social distance underwater...

Some decent fishies have tried to get too close and I had to take them down...

Here is a little vid and a few pics...

Hope you all are staying safe and doing well in these crazy times.....

 :smt006

Sincerely,

Jim

Thanks guys.  :smt008

In continuation of my Corona Chronicles......

I've been trying to get in the water at least once a week for my physical and mental health...

I've lost over 20 pounds since the virus started, and haven't had any booze in almost 6 months now.

I live closer to sandy bottoms than rocky reefs, so a lot of my swimming is over sand...

Got lucky about a month ago and even though the water was pretty green and murky I spotted a nice halibut hiding in the sand...

I could see enough features to know there was a fish there, but viz made it hard to actually figure out where the body/head were...

After what felt like forever staring at the patch of sand I made out the head and placed a shot right behind her gill plate, pinned her to the bottom, and after a little tussle got my hand in her throat and brought her up to the surface.

Very thick and meaty pig of a fish, and pretty stoked on her.

Family was out of town so gifted most of the fish to my buddies who had just scored some opening weekend Salmon, and they shared some of their fresh catch with me as well.

Corona Chronicles continued...

Between not drinking, and being stressed AF....I haven't been sleeping much... :smt012

So have been swimming at night instead of laying in bed or getting up and getting a drink...

Sometimes not very productive and just some good exercise...sometimes I find a fish...

A few months ago I found two on a double dip night swim...

First spot was a lot rougher than I was hoping for, and was gonna give up but found a nice 28 incher on swim back to shore...

Threw fish in the cooler and drove to a spot I thought might be calmer...

It was a little better but I wasn't seeing anything exciting, until I saw a big old head buried in the sand.  :smt004

Placed a shot right by her pec fin and thought I had stoned her...until she was on my stringer and woke up and went ape shit.  :smt005

She had a good sized gash on her side (seal? gaff? spear) but the wound didn't mess up any of her meat.

32 inches and thicc.
