Two questions hope to get clarity.
1. Is it legal to use squid jig (more than 2 hook?) when a RCG or lingcod in possession? I know we can’t use more than two “regular” hook once a RCG or ling on board, but what about squid jig?
2. Is it legal to transport live squid with water and aerator? I know it not legal to do that with fish, but what about “bait”?

With a sabiki, you’d have to cut it down to 2 hooks.
But...if you mean one of these squid catchers with multi-prongs (pic below)...I don’t know, good question.

You may have found this already.  This is the only note I found so far about squid.  Hooks are not even an issue and are the squid jigs even considered hooks?  Has anyone ever caught fish on a squid jig?

29.70. Market Squid, Jumbo Squid. Squid may be taken with hand-held dip nets. There is no limit.

“I’m going fishing.”  They said, “we will go with you.”

1.  No

2.  Yes,  and you can also do it with fish when you’re in the ocean.

Appreciated your input Crash! Could you elaborate a little more on the second one? So if I’m fishing in the ocean, I could keep my fish alive and when I go home I could fill up a cooler  with water and aerator? Not sure I’m going to do that, but it is good to know there is a differences. What about SF by for bait?

I believe the whole restriction on transporting live fish only applies to freshwater.

No. You can’t transport live fin fish from the water where taken, even in the ocean.

Squid isn’t a fin fish and can be transported live just like clams, crabs, urchins, and maybe some day again, abalone.

What do you base that "no" on? It seems to me that those spikes on a squid jigs don't count as "hooks".

a fishhook.

anything that catches; snare; trap.

1. Seems OK to us a squid jig with groundfish or Ling in possession.  This is how DFW defines a hook.  Somebody correct me if this includes a squid jig.

https://wildlife.ca.gov/Fishing/Ocean/Regulations/Sport-Fishing/General-Ocean-Fishing-Regs

d) Method of take: When angling, gear is restricted to not more than two hooks and one line. For purposes of this section, a hook is a single hook, or double or treble hook with multiple points connected to a common shank.
