Nothing stopping you from kayaking (in Contra Costa) even during the SIP.

From the SMC website: I guess we need to wait another month?

In addition in San Mateo County, beach parking lots and adjacent parking areas must remain closed to the public for beach access, and local authorities are encouraged to close or prohibit parking in areas adjacent to beaches as necessary to prevent crowds that cannot feasibly comply with the requirements of the order.

I had a job in Gualala today. All of parks and beach entries from Manchester south were marked closed, Anchor Bay Campground also had closed signs.

Santa Cruz beach access prohibited from 11am to 5pm daily, effective Saturday May 2nd.

water activities, including kayaking specifically, are allowed which was nice to see.
Kind of a confusing order, since we all have to cross sand to get to the water, but I get it is about crowds packing the beaches rather than those of us OTW.

Tyrant newsom to order ALL beaches and coastal areas to remain closed. Humboldt County sheriff will not enforce. With everyone freaked out keeping distance from eachother and mandatory masks, there is no reason for this. This is beyond keeping people safe.

The State order is for Orange County beaches only.  Local authorities can place restrictions as they see fit.

I see crabbing, canoeing (singles) and rowing (singles)..... so.... yeah... i'd be curious to know what you guys think. I guess 'kayak fishing' is pretty specific.

Thanks for the info.  Did not see if we're allowed to park along HW1?

Is "Athletics" an activity only undertaken in Oakland?

Sf gate botched the message, they left out the key sentence prior to that list. So if you think you read the rules, and read SF Gate instead, your mistaken.

It definitely sounds like kayaking is allowed.  Same as solo canoeing IMO.  Let's fish.

Hello Steven,

Thank you for your email.

Outdoor recreation such as swimming, sailing or kayaking in the bay is not prohibited by the Order.  Individuals may access the bay for such outdoor activities but only if they comply with any restrictions on access and use that are established by the Health Officer, another government agency, or other entity that manages such area to reduce crowding and risk of transmission of COVID-19.  If you can access the bay in compliance with the Health Officer Order Directing All Parks to Close to Motorized Access, you can utilize the bay as you would a park or trail for recreational activities.

Stay safe.

I think it's time to call certain officials and politely tell them they need to ease park and coastal access restrictions and open businesses.
