I work @ Keysight Technologies here in Santa Rosa. I just read my e-mail today that starting tomorrow our site is going to closed for two weeks. Stay safe everyone!!!  :smt006

I work for Medtronic and was told to prepare for the same kind of shut down, which sucks because I’m in the middle of 3D printing and silicone molding several anatomy models that are supposed to be used for “compassionate use” cases in a few weeks.

I’m extremely lucky in that I get up to 31 days paid. I could also use the break because today will be the 23rd day in a row that I’ve worked, but these models will help save these patients’ lives and I’d at least like to finish them before being shut down.

My company is shutting down our offices until April 7.  Fortunately, I have the ability to work from home.  Stay safe and healthy everyone.

On another note, I am hearing from some friends that in December there was an outbreak of a virus that the doctors were unable to identify.  The symptoms match what we are seeing know (high fever, respiratory problems).  There is some thought in the medical community that this may be the same virus.  What doesn't add up is the timeline.  Has anyone else heard of this?

I have heard that rumor, but haven’t read it from a legitimate source.

Same deal here - our office in Emeryville is shit down until at least 4/7, but luckily I can WFH.

I’ve got enough food (and TP) to hold out for a bit, but I did attempt a Safeway run in Alameda yesterday afternoon in the hopes of picking up some healthy fresh fruits and veggies for my daughter. No go... There was a “line” (more like an unorganized crowd) of people waiting for carts to be available, and the checkout line wrapped all the way around the interior perimeter of the store. The shelves were reasonably well stocked, but I couldn’t spend all day in line so I bailed...

In regards to the question of whether it is lawful to fish during this time, I'll cite the following document in two places: https://www.sfdph.org/dph/alerts/files/HealthOrderC19-07-%20Shelter-in-Place.pdf

1) 10-a-ii
2) 10-f-iii

As was said already--> fishing is less risky than a frequented grocery store...

Hopefully this applies to counties other than SF as well!

I’m not in the SF area oculus oh and haven’t fine tooth combed the announcement, but I don’t think you need to bootstrap your recreational fishing under “essential business”. You are allowed to go outside and exercise. Kayaking is inarguably social distancing simply by its nature.

Just hold your safety meetings remotely.

It's taken a while, but our country is starting to take this seriously.

I feel it's super important to reinforce with everyone that it's not just when you have symptoms that you should not go out - it's all the time!  The big danger of this virus - other than being deadly for a significant portion of our population - is that people are contagious before they even have symptoms.

So when you see new guidelines that 'suggest' that you should not go out, and they go on to refer to symptomology as part of the decision making process, please remember that this disease will be much worse than others because of being spread unknowingly by patients who have it and are unaware.

People who joke about this situation and who flaunt the rules and guidelines because they have no symptoms are potentially the most dangerous among us.

I'm in Placer County and so far no shelter in place directive but the feeling is that it is just a matter of when.

Most stores/restaurants/gyms/churches are shutting down so it is already causing a big shift in behavior.  Also, the schools in the area (and all over California) are shut down.  Definitely feels like a ghost town here in Roseville/Rocklin/Loomis

I went to Wells Fargo bank in Union City yesterday.  There was line in the front door and customers had to wait outside to be let in.  When I got in to stand in line for teller there was blue tape on the floor spaced 6 ft away where you had to wait till the line moves then you move another 6ft.  Good thing banks will be open since its an essential business.
