Like many of you, I have over a decades worth of tournament shirts that sit in a drawer. Many of the shirts are faded from many years of use, and others, varied in quality of the material and sizing inconsistencies from one tournament to another, and some are still perfect. This is not meant as criticism, but just a realization that I have like 40+ tourney shirts in a drawer that I don't get to wear often enough. They are also a great reminder of an awesome time with a bunch of cool people! When I look back at all of the cool collaborations and creative artwork that we have seen over the years, it got me to thinking, how bad-ass would it be to have some of those same shirts framed as a print up on my wall that could be viewed daily!!
I have no idea if this is even feasible or would create too much work for tournament directors. I took an informal poll by asking many people at our events over the last summer what they thought, and all seemed to favor the idea.
Tournament directors: is this a possibility and cost effective for you to offer this opportunity for your event artwork to live on for a lifetime as a framed print?
Thank you for your consideration and feedback.

We talked about this at Simply and I think it's a great idea.

Try to frame some of your shirts
I'm in the same shirt situation

I would love to be able to purchase or print myself the artwork for a framed picture.

I could even see myself using it for my spreadsheets lol.

I still have a Red Barn poster floating around my house somewhere.  I think it’s a cool idea.

Edit: Now that I think of it I wouldn’t mind having artwork from some of the events that I can’t attend.  Crabfest and Albion always seem to have some wall worthy artwork.

Do you have room on your walls for 40+ framed prints? My walls are already being covered with Amadeo framed prints.

Yes.

They don't need to be poster size. 8x10 would be fine.

Good idea, but many are not suitable due to age and fading, which is how I arrived at the present idea. I would have to bet that the quality, color, and detail would be much better than the already great result on many of the screenprints, and much easier to frame than an old shirt........

Lol-I have one from Red Barn too, ah the good ol' days.......
That was also thought that came to mine, it would be great for people who can't attend or even want one from a couple of years back. When you look at some of the great artists in our group, Amadeo, Damien, Linda Hoa, Sean Griggs, Ben, Tony, and many others, it's not hard to see the possibilities. Plus, I imagine a lot cheaper and easier to ship!

Lol-
no, but I have some room between my Amadeo prints. Remember the one he did for Albion, one of my favorites-now faded almost beyond recognition:-(
Could there be an option to resurrect some limited runs of "retro" tournament shirts??

Exactly!
Tony's art from last year's Simply was bomb and would look great framed up on a wall!

I'm sure there's a couple people on here that would love 8x10 or even 4x6 for scrapping.  I can see smaller prints being very welcome.

Imagine a piece that showed the evolution of logos for each event...like all of the Albion logos together. Or all of the Crabfest logos together. Or all of the Gimme Shelter logos/colors!

Two words: Pellon prints.

They are low cost fabric sheets to perform screen registration and color saturation by the printers prior to inking shirts and make really good (IMO) framed poster art. They use the t-shirt screens so no different sizing, layout, substrates are needed.

With today’s technology, smaller photo-printer renderings May be a good alternative.
