Upgrading my tackle. Just got a mxj avet and want to psi with a phenix. I want an extremely well rounded rod from rockfish to halibut to sea bass. I will use 50lb test. Any suggestions? I’m new to phenix not sure where to start except for the titan series

I suggest you check out the Okuma PCH rod line.
They are comparable to Phenix.  West Marine carries the Okuma PCH line and you can try them out there.  I own 2 of them.

Either an abyss or axis should be great for that reel.

What do you think of the m1 inshore? My next was the axis so I might just go with that

Abyss are nice all around rods.. not for jigging cause it’s on the larger spectrum , They’re 8’ long... medium is all u need. For everything around here sturgeon, halibut, sea bass, big ol stripers, even salmon..  jiggin off a kayak I prefer 7’... but if u can deal with the weight it’s a nice rod. If you really want to dive in and purchase a black diamond... then that’s a different story.

I'm a big fan of the Titan series from Phenix.

It's their jigging rod, super light, small, plenty of backbone. Would pair well with a narrow spool reel like that.

I use a MH for almost everything if I'm lazy enough. The tip isn't soft as I'd want for halibut/salmon but it will get the job done. I'd maybe settle for a M if I wanted to be more versatile like you're suggesting.
if I'm not fishing I'm probably thinking about fishing

The m1 inshores are a lighter 15-20lb stick, probably best suited for the SX in the Avet lineup.  The factory rods are usually trigger seats  with skinnier grips, will pair the best with a 300 size reel, Lexa or tranx.

With an mxj  I’d look at the black diamond 700m.  I also like the axis series but I believe the blanks have more of a parabolic action like an old school glass blank, it has its pros and cons.
..........agarcia is just an ex-kayaker

Thanks guys. This helped me. For the price, length, and what I am matching it up with I am going to go with the Axis 720H. The M1 seemed to small for the bigger mx series. The titans are nice but out of my price range. I like the abyss but they are too long for the kayak.

I agree with you. I have my Avet on a Phenix Black Diamond, 7'6", 15-40lb, PSW760M and that is still my favorite RF/Hali/Salmon ball setup.  Heavy sounds heaaavy like others have said

Before you pull the trigger you may want to consider the new Abyss HD series.  They are including 7 footers in the line-up.

I agree the M1 Inshore rods might feel off-balance with an MXJ.

Sorry I Meant the MH Axis 720MH. I agree the Heavy sounds too heavy. I have always like the Medium Heavy Style. I sometimes go to Washington for some pacific brutes
