I've been thinking of getting a one or two camera setup to keep an eye on my bike, kayaks, and car.
Any suggestions? Something wireless with a long-ish battery life would be great.

Thanks in advance!
Andrew

Amazon sells the blink camera.  Battery powered lasts up to 2 yrs.  Easy setup.  On sale they go for 79 dollars.  Alerts to motion if you want.  Sends video and notifications to your phone.  You can do live view, though that does drain battery quicker.  I've had mine 6 months and think they are worth the money. Stores on server for I think 30 days.  I can't remember as I always delete mine after viewing.

Definitely remote access, and I suppose cloud storage would be good.

I have a couple $50 Vimtag cameras off amazon. They pan, zoom, two way audio and so so night vision with IR. Can link multiple with the app.
Needs to be plugged in though.

Just put a new camera system in here at the Tides.
Wanted to go wireless, but decided to go with a wired system for these reasons;

  1. Better picture quality 4k vs 1080
  2. Never need to charge or replace batteries
  3. Better selection of cameras for different areas
  4. Less chance of connection issues
  5. Storage on both DVR and Cloud
  6. Remote access and notification along with remote Listen, Talk, Snapshot, Video, Siren activation and playback

Very happy with the cameras and picture quality … Even at night with IR lighting.
A buddy has a wireless camera at his house and he believed the picture quality was great,
came over to help me install a few cameras and was blown away by the quality.

Lorex .... from Costco
4k picture X 8 cameras
And a 4k monitor
Didn't need all the cameras, but always good to have extras around the salt.
Also,
Customer service is excelent
Had a few tech questions with setup, called and someone answered immediately and was very polite and very helpful.

+1 for Blink, get the XT2 for outdoors.
I've had it for almost a year now. It works great for me.
- Cloud storage is usually good for 30 days.
- I found a Windows script that allows me to download all of the videos to my computer. PM me if you're interested.
- Battery life can be less than 2 months if you're capturing videos often.
- It uses a non-rechargeable Lithium battery but found a LiIon rechargeable on Amazon that works pretty much the same, only issue is doesn't tell you if the batteries are low.

Good luck.

I’ve been using the Blink xt2 for over a year now and it works well. Started with the original but upgraded to the xt2 so I can talk with my kids when they get home from school (while I’m still at work). The original version is compatible with the newer xt2. I have 3 cameras but I think you can connect 9 cameras to each module/receiver. I will have to replace the AA batteries on my original camera soon—it’s been running on the same batteries since mid 2018. (Granted, I moved it to the side yard in January 2019 where it gets less traffic)
Downside is that it’s not continuous recording; it records when it detects motion. And it’s dependent on internet wifi, so it the network goes down it will not work.
