Planning on launching at Cowells/Main Beach at first light and peddling to the Mile Reef. Might have a few friends with me, might be solo. HMU if you're out there; I'm in a grey PA12.

Cheers,
Kevin

Just wondering if it is allowed to launch out of Cowell and if so wondering where you park then?

I've launched/landed at Cowells numerous times and seen others do so, and I've never been reprimanded for it. On low swell days the launch is a cake-walk. However, on busy days in the summer I have been asked to refrain from surf fishing main beach and Cowells. As far as parking goes, there is a small (<20 spots) lot at the base of the wharf that I always park in. Its free until 10 am, at which point I think the rate is $1.50 an hour. If you get the ParkMobile app you don't have to return to shore to add time once 10 am roles around. I'd recommend starting the App before you hit the water so that you ensure you're good to go in the event that you get out of service range.

Thanks. I might try that as it is more convenient (well shorter...) if you want to go pass the light house ;-)

Right on! Also, I think what you'd end up paying in the Cowell lot would be cheaper than the $10 launch fee at the harbor.

Right on, good luck. Still some butts being caught out there. But...do we have to help carry the PA back up the stairs?  :smt044

Thanks! Probably going to mostly target rockfish, but might bounce ball for some Hali's if time permits. Lol, if only there was a chairlift down to the water.....but no, I'll be launching from the beach, not the stairs. No assistance required  :smt004

Tempting, but it's difficult to get out on a Friday.

Be sure to post a report for the benefit of us landlocked people...

RPT: Water was lake-calm in the morning, but the fog was pea soup, so my buddy and I stayed within a quarter mile of Steamer Lane. Once the fog cleared out around 10:30, the wind picked up so we packed it in.

I caught a couple small blacks and my friend caught 4 cabbies and a decent black, 3 of which were solid keepers. All of the cabs came on a 8 oz mack-pattern PLine jig.
