I was originally planning on going up to Shelter Cove this weekend, but heard is was going to be blown out. I just checked Wind Alert for Monterey Bay and it look blown out also. 20+ winds with 30 mph gust. 10' swells. I was really hoping to get my new Outback on the water this weekend. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks, Dan   :smt006

As a backup, I do have my Kokanee gear down here and could try that somewhere also.

I've been monitoring the sites you gave above. You are correct that the swells look great. The wind looks to be the x-factor. I'm not sure if I should go out or not. Sunday looks to have 4-5 hours of low wind.
Any advice would be great and if anyone is going out, please let me know. I'm not going out alone, unless I take a peddle on a local lake.

If my advice means anything, never go out alone! Santa Cruz should give you a good few hours of “searching”, if you bank it toward the light house you should catch your supper before any horrible wind kicks up and have a free ride back to the harbor cause the wind will blow ya back in... I just pulled two keeper halies out of.30-to 45 feet of water

Launching from the Monterey side at MBK or the coastguard jetty should be easy enough. Then head towards the kelp beds off cannery row. Its always fairly calm there.
