So took the PA out for its first fishing trip(2nd voyage) and was doing fine until I hooked a nice brown trolling and while I was trying to get the rod out of the holder I ran right into a submerged log. Any help would be appreciated on how to fix this...Thanks in advance. Good thing I had the paddle with me lol. About a mile back to my truck against the wind will teach me to be more careful. Good news is I didn't lose the fish,,,about a 4 lb brown.

Remove the fin and carefully bend the mast straight. As long as none of the plastic parts are broken (can’t really tell from the picture) it should be as good as new.

I can't tell too many details but if it is just a bent rod, you can replace the rod or straighten it after you remove it.  With a vise grip, you can remove the rod easily.  A new Hobie Mirage Turbo Fin Replacement Mast - Mirage Drive 180 V2 is a.pproximately $30

Thanks guys. Doesn't look like any of the plastic broke just bent the main pin,  and the threaded one.

Having bent a few mast myself, I found a propane torch comes in handy to heat the rod before attempting to straitening.  Good luck.

Gotta be careful heating metal, one can F-up the metal heating and cooling wrong a lot faster hitting it while hot. I have used heat and force to straighten metal before and will again. I straightened a bent Hobie mast with a metal paddle shaft (it was a two piece) not my mast but the guy a straightened it for is still using it after two seasons. I’d recommend you Hobie guys get an aluminum tube that fits loosely over your drives past and keep it on board, we fixed his on a beach just off the jetty Tillamook Bay. Didn’t take it off just fixed it gently on the drive.

i wouldn't heat it up too hot when shaping.  my mast snapped near the part that attaches to the drive, had to drill out the rest of it.  it had previously been heated and bent back.

i found that when bending it back,  ditch the vise, and leave it in the drive, lean the drive against something, with the pedals on the floor parallel to each other, and bend it towards you.

If you can Not bend the shaft back,  remember that that is the original 180 drive. There were a few modifications in the first few months. Fins are not available for that version. The bases will also need to be replaced. Contact Hobie  and they should offer the retro fit with the purchase of the new fins.
Good luck

^^^ this.  Alternatively, you can replace the rod like others said.

If that's the case, I'd request the retrofit, even if the bent rod is fixable.

I did that in my pa14 a few months ago. My shop fix it for free since it was only a month old but the rods are $25-$29 each. that's if the only thing you did is bent it and didnt damage anything else... Also they said that the new 180 drive systems are a little harder to change out then the old versions.

If the fin mast is not removable you can just try and use brute force to get it straight.
Sure wish Hobie engineers would quit being so idiotic and make the rods removable again so you can just take them out and pound them straight.
