I dunno Jerry.  Its hard for me to believe all those scientists are wrong or practicing bad science. I combine that with my common sense. My money is on the scientists. On the other hand, I hope you're right and I'm wrong.

I'm not asking you to believe those scientists are wrong.  I'm asking you to question the source of how you are told what scientists are saying on the topic.  The press can manipulate what anyone says about any topic, and they do.  Same with politicians.  When the two work together to control voters to fulfill their own agenda, you are left with a false idea of reality.
Every day I read the newspaper and every day I watch national news on TV.  It simply amazes me the way reality is manipulated they report as whole truth.
Ever been on a jury?  You hear the same story told by the defense and by the prosecutor.  Both are supposed to be solely interested in truth and in justice.  But both of them are biased in their telling of the 'facts'.  Neither is lying.  They would be disbarred.  But neither is telling the jury what the truth actually is either without their own slant.
All I'm saying is that the media, the politicians, the oil industry and anyone else with skin in the game is going to report facts as they want you to believe as reality.

It is disappointing that educators don't teach science, they teach media news reports on science.  If we want to know the real truth about it, we can't just trust the news media and we sure as hell can not trust the politicians to be telling us what a scientist is saying.  We need to hear it from the scientists without the media editing their words.

And we need to hear both sides of the issue from scientists. Not just the so called “consensus”. The reason we don’t is science is just not able to predict the future with a high accuracy. If they tell the truth they have to say “we believe” or “maybe” or “we fear”. The science doesn’t support declaring absolutes. They have decided they should shade the truth in part because they know they won’t convince anyone to act if they tell the truth and say it is really just a theory based on weak evidence with no real proof.  Do you ever wonder why the best argument they offer is pointing to how many scientists believe rather than pointing to conclusive evidence?

I wondered what got you so vocal on that site! hahah.. When this thread first got posted, I almost put the hyperlink to the other site where all the drama was going on about sustainable fishing and how you shouldn't spear a fish bigger than what only you can specifically eat. Jim came in late to the game and was hilariously opinionated =P I got a kick out of it.  :smt005 Made me wonder if a martini was involved.  :smt044 :smt044

Interesting that prior to the advent of social media, most of us learned about the world through the press and the media.  Most of us relied on them to provide us with accurate information and most of us believed in people like Walter Cronkite.  Now everyone has a conspiracy theory on just about everything and are willing to believe people that support their thoughts as to how the world should be shaped.   If you lean right, you watch Fox News.  If you lean left you watch any other broadcast other than Fox News.  Fair and balanced are no longer necessary in the press.  It is all about clicks and views.  The internet allows us to come together as a community but it has been shown that it can also rip us apart.

so how about them UFO's?  and should there be a State of Jefferson?  and do you believe in God?  and are you pro Trump or against Trump?  And isn't it interesting that the vast majority of the 9/11 terrorists came into our country on Saudi Arabia Visa's and passports?

All explainable without resorting to aliens.
Yes.
No.
Neither. I think he is doing a fair job and is better than Clinton would have done but his boorish twiting and trade wars are stupid. He needs to get out of his own way but on balance he is neither this country’s savior nor its downfall.
Yes.

Somewhere along the line, news reporting became biased as you pointed out.  Sensationalism sells and the reporter becomes the story.  Brian Williams from NBC is a fine example.  Politicians we have come to expect it from, Hillary claiming she was in a plane shot at while landing in some 'shit-hole' nation I can't recall which.  When a lowly news anchor does it, his career is ruined.  What a mixed up world we live in!!
So the only thing we can do is to either ignore them all or become ourselves the investigator into the stories being reported.

UFO's; Not space aliens.  At least not to the point Trump, as commander in chief was briefed on the topic or we'd have heard about a space wall by now.  Oh, wait.  Trump is formulating a new branch of of the military; The Space Force I think.  Uh Oh....

State of Jefferson;  Actually I think the West Coast needs as many states as the East Coast has.  We are way under represented and California is way to large for one state government to best serve all it's residents. (Notice I did NOT call them citizens...)

God; yes, but probably not in the sense most people claim to believe in God.  Religion is the antithesis of God.

Trump; The lesser of two evils.  I shutter to think what would have happened if Hillary had gotten into office.  She is just felt too entitled in my opinion, thinking she deserved that position and it was owed to her.  Hardly the heart of a servant of the people. Many other fine candidates that weren't flamboyant enough to get the press's attention.

911; terrorism knows no bounds.  Proving evil can come from anywhere at anytime from any source, it's dangerous to only look for it to come from one direction or another.  Part of the solution is putting more guns in hands of vetted citizens instead of stripping away means of defense and thereby assuring terrorists will succeed before they can be neutralized.
