Just got back from a fireworks convention. One much talked about item was a BLEVE. Kind of an interesting thing.

150 gallon vessel, equal parts gas, diesel and propane.

Did that, too. It was windy that night, so the column was not well formed or nearly as high.

The BLEVE looks like a high-tech version of a "Bacon Bomb."  For you explosive fans, here's how you make a Bacon Bomb while camping:  Make some bacon, and pour the fat into a can. Melt the bacon fat by putting the can of fat on the coals of a campfire.  Attach a can or a cup to a stick.  A lo-o-o-ng stick.  Fill the can or cup with water.  Staying low to the ground and way back, pour a little water into the melted bacon fat.  KERBLOOEY!  The addition of the water will cause fat to spray out of the can, creating an aerosol of fat particles which get ignited by the campfire and explode into a mushroom cloud of fire.  Repeat until the bacon grease has been incinerated.  The pictures shown below were taken on a Middle Fork of the Flathead River raft and kayak trip in the Great Bear Wilderness in Montana, after flying in to the Shaffer Meadows wilderness airstrip.

Cup of gasoline in a champagne bottle. wrap the neck with foil, and set in campfire.
Don't do it at home or around children or dogs.
In the desert and hiding behind your camp mates is fine tho.
