They are making adjustments based on the fish counts. I will agree that I wasn't catching as much Lings in 2018.  :smt010

the bigger question is what happens with the commercial regs.  if they don't reduce these numbers what's the point

+1. Seems like the right move to me.

not sure if its to conserve their #'s or not.  just saying,  if its 1 limit,  people would just filter through small ones and go for the big breeders.  wouldn't you think that could impact the numbers negetively? not to mention hooking and releasing many small lings.  whats their survival rate anyways?

i'm not sure i agree with an annual review.  12 month review period seems myopic.

is it 1 catch per trip and 2 in possession?  might b worth it to overnight a boat to lingcentral

Thanks for the link Riverwatcher LT

From The Article:
“Lingcod harvest limit for the recreational and “non-trawl” commercial fisheries, which dropped from 683 metric tons (mt) in 2018 to 565 mt in 2019, and will drop to 471 mt in 2020. The reduction in the recreational Lingcod bag and possession limit to one fish, as well as lower commercial fishery trip limit allowances, are now in effect south of 40°10’ N latitude (near Cape Mendocino).”

I really don’t need more than one

I don't think I ever took a limit of 3 when it was at that level, but have taken home 2 on numerous occasions. What's troubling to me is the way they're flipping back and forth so quickly on the limits -- to me that's an indication of they don't know WTF they're doing.

Limits were at 2 for seemingly forever then they bumped it to 3 for what - 1 or 2 years? Then its back down to 2 and a year later its down to 1. Were their estimates just AFU when they raised the limit? It just doesn't make sense to be that up and down with the limits.

Cheers,
Brad

A slot limit would be better.  Or something like:

Limit 2, only one of which may be over 32"

Or something.
