Kinda interested in one of these.

Noticed they have been allowed in other yak events and tourneys.

Doesn't look like a yak, but not really any different than a Hobie with an ama either.

Can I get a ruling?

Except you can paddle a Hobie when the drive breaks.  dude, you would catch the biggest fish no matter what you are floating on.

Maybe a contest where everyone starts from their truck, unloads, preps, launches, and gets everything back on the truck before timed weigh-in?

Guess it would depend on the individual derbymeister.

Good to hear from you fish together soon?

Good question Sean. Thanks for bringing this up. The committee will discuss and make a decision asap (hopefully before Jan 1).

I actually paddled a Bluesky as well.  The move along pretty well standing with a SUP paddle.

They don't even they classify it as a kayak based on the name BOATworks.
I think if they called it KAYAKworks they'd take too much flack from the community. Just my .02.

I don't disagree.  It is a human powered fishing platorm.

I would say the same thing about "kayaks" like a Titan.

I'd be OK with it if Jackson paid us the same amount of money they paid KBF to get it approved there.

I actually dunno - I don't have a huge issue with it, but it does kinda stretch the rules a bit I would think.  It's essentially a pontoon boat, not a kayak.

How about AI's with amas?

They're not that different from traditional hawaiian style canoes.  The goal of the NCKA AOTY tournament is to support the Northern California Kayak Anglers fishing community.  There's a limit there somewhere where these become non-"kayaks".  I don't know where the line is.  I don't think the bluesky provides competitors with any advantage over other kayaks.  But at the same time neither would a float tube or kickboat, but we haven't allowed those either.

I have been told the supplied $0 to KBF for that decision. I tend to agree with what was said.

I don't think any money has been paid to any of the other sanctioning bodies.
