Just picked up a Hobie mirage classic for $400. Hull is in great shape, just needs new cables and a drive rebuild.

Thinking I would like to put outriggers and trampolines like an AI, as well as a seat upgrade. Could be a fun project

Been searching (still searching) forum history for posts on seat mods. Plenty of material to read about upgrades for outback’s, but I’d like to put a more comfortable seat on my new to me hobie classic. Anyone donseat mods for older Revo’s? Better yet, anyone upgrade a seat on the classic model? Not sure if I should go with a vantage seat from hobie or something else...

Maybe what I’m searching for needs to be narrower to fit inside the 30” wife hull...maybe height of certain seats will prove to throw the balance off significantly?

Plan on adding at least one outrigger to help with this but any wisdom would be most helpful.

I don't think I have any wisdom to offer, but if you are going to go pseudo-AI mode, then the center of gravity is not an issue. A lot of AI owners (pre-2015) did DIY "captain seat", something like this:

I'm pretty sure you could get that to work on your kayak. And here's a seat mod that I did on my AI:

My mod just affects the back, but you could easily do a similar bungee/mesh thing for the seat bottom, or just use a boat cushion under your butt.
