Going to lake Cachuma on Veterans Day weekend with some friends & our kids. Never been there. Bringing the kayaks. It looks like they planted trout the first wknd of November the last 3yrs...so hopefully they dump some planters in there before we arrive :-)
Any advice?
Thank you!

I last fished there some years ago, maybe 2010?
mussel inspection was $15 I think.
We trolled across the lake from the marina to a few coves (one even had a floating bathroom for boaters) and did well on big rainbows and LMB.
Gear was a leadline rig with a flasher and either a gold phoebe, a silver/blue kastmaster, or a live nightcrawler.
there was a nice little bait shop in the marina that had all the stuff the regulars were using, and they were super helpful since the preferred lures change all the time.

I spent many summers living in the Cachuma ranger house when my brother-in-law was the ranger there. Best place to run wild as a kid ever.

have fun Pat!

Well, they’ve planted trout the first week of November for the past 3+ years when the water level was even lower. http://cachuma.uslakes.info/Level/
