Sean and PAL are planning the potluck for Sunday.  The main course is Chef Stefano's Big Sur Fish Tacos as featured in this month's issue of the Western Outdoor News magazine (page 57).

Sean, PAL, and Jelly are supplying the fresh rockfish fillets and the taco fixings.  I'm bring my frying setup and doing the beer tempura fish fry.

We'd like to know who's going and what they're planning to bring to complement the fish taco feast.

Here's a tentative list so far:

Sean, Jelly, PAL -- fish, tortillas, and other taco fixings
Frankfishing -- drinks
Pat & Randy
Mooch
JDyak
EricGTO
InsaneDuane
JTF -- Rockfish curry stew or chowder
Mooch
JDyak
Kevin
Stuart
Freddie

Did I miss anyone?

I'm 99% sure I'll be there.

What's included in the fixings?  I can make some salsa and maybe some guac if Sean isn't already planning on taking some.

Hi, what is this all about? Is this a private gathering? Scattering ashes and all...

Anyways, I've always wanted to try out Big Sur area. I'm kinda new, have only gone out 3 times around natural bridges area. Is it OK for me to tag along with some of you who may be fishing early in the moring before the service?

BTW, I'm from around SJ/Campbell area.

Angel:

Those would be welcome additions.

jloo:

Its a memorial service.  In all likelyhood not the best time to learn how to fish Big Sur.

I'll join you guys as well. Never knew Chef personally but will pay my respect.
Not sure what to bring. I can put in some money for the potluck  if that helps.

Edit: It looks like I'll need to be back before noon. This might not work out for me but I hope you guys have a good time and celebrate in Chef's memory.

Well, desserts are my thing and the last dessert that Chef served me was chocolate lava cake.  Since that won't be practical at the service, how about if I bring chocolate fudge brownies or cupcakes?

I'm headed down with Fred.  Dessert sounds good.  We'll pile on with a cake and pie.

Chuck,
Do you need additional chairs?  How about an extra fryer?

My plans for Sunday are still up in the air, but I may be fishing north of San Simion and drop by to pay my respects.

I'll probably be coming.  Might have room for 1 or 2 carpoolers too.  Watch the south swell, that causes some big sets.  Last time I was waiting for a good set in an area where I thought I was out of the surf zone and got whalloped by a huge wave - almost as big as the one from the bean hollow photo.

MByakker said that all of the campsites at Kirk Creek were full this morning. Might have to keep driving a couple miles south to Plaskett Creek or camp on the shoulder of the HWY. Not the worst thing in the world...but something to consider. There are also campsites up on Nacimiento Rd. Or check the Santa Lucia Lodge for vacancy.

I rarely use campgrounds and just crash in the back of the van on hwy 1.  Then there's no camping gear to secure before heading to the beach, or much of a commute to the beach either usually.
