Attempted a go out @ 8 this a.m.  Conditions way too foggy, even for here.  Was unable to see the surf from the beach.  Visibility on the water must have been 10 yards or less.  I think it would have been nuts even with a GPS.

South swell may be coming which may put a damper on the next few days, but the wind is scheduled to back off.

My most frightening moment ever on the water was getting caught in the fog without a GPS in Davenport. Even with a GPS the chance of getting hit by a boat is pretty good. I could hear them near by but I could not see them, pretty freaky.

Good call on the no go...

Ditto on the scariness factor.  Me and buddy went for a paddle out of New Brighton and the fog moved in when we were out.  Completely swamped our senses - felt like I was paddling into oblivion even though the instruments showed a heading.  Totally ill-advised JFK Jr moment.

Good call, PJ.  I hope everyone carries a compass as well as GPS...

I hear you all.  Usually you can see around 100-200 yards under the fog & if you hug the coast your o.k. but I've definately had that weird disorientation feeling on days like that.  Also seemed to be more succeptible to seasickness w/ no horizons.

Ditto for me - one day in the fog I was getting queasy, then a window opened up and I could see shore for a minute and I felt better.  It disappeared again and I was hatin'...

Fog schmog! Just paddle towards the sound of breaking waves! LOL!
Kidding, of course.

Good call on the no-go. Paddling in the fog sucks. Especially when there is a good swell and boats are nearby.

The way I see it, you're just giving that monsta ling a couple more days to gain weight! So when you catch him he'll be even bigger!

Leffingwell  and Harvey street are dicey landings in the fog,   I landed leffingwell once by compass and the sounds of the swell against the bluff right there, but never again!!  In retrospect a stunt like that should have earned me my picture in the dictionary next to a definition of  stupid!!!
