Great going guys, your catch is well earned and the pics make it look easy but the veterans know better.  There's a reason why we travel all over the tarnation to fish places like this.

JTF, Etienne way to help the guys out and put them on top of the fish.  Damn guys, with non stop action like that I'd be smiling for days.  Scott, good to hear that you're safe, you can build another rod and be assured that we ALL get slapped around by the fish gods once in a while.

I know carnage pics are frowned upon but a group photo of the 40+ fish from this trip would have been impressive...this was an Epic day!

Well for me it was a great trip ditto what the others said. My only bummer was when launching in a very calm situation I got nailed by a sneaker wave, of course the FND plowed right through it but my radio was lost to king titan, Maybe he will sell all my stuff back to me someday.

Great trip camping was awsome fishing was killer and company was outstanding,

Next year I vote to change this weekend to the weekend after mothers day.

Well I think you know the ending by now.   :smt005

I was worried when we approached JTF and he was paddling toward us.  Turns out he  had drifted off the reef and there was no bite.  We fanned out and snaked around and tried a few promising looking spots.  I caught a sand dab on a 6/0 Siwash with a whole squid.  He took the whole thing down to his stomach.  I hooked him up and by then JTF had found the reef.  We all joined him for free for all fish on every drop good size and quality lots of small lings, a cabazon from 100+ feet, noumerous small Rf, Olives and endlesss big Vermillions.  A typical 14 inch Olive RF looked small compared to the rest.  I had launched at about 7 and was back on the beach about 11.

My total for the day was 8 to take home.  One huge 22 inch Red and one 19-inch Cabazon where the trophies among two Olives 16 and 14 inch, and four 16-18 inch reds and coppers.  I also applied a couple of small gopher RF against my limit as the did not re submerge and were taken by seagulls.  One of the red fillets and one of the Cabazon fillets were served for Mothers day brunch (see Photo).

Great time fishing with you guys.  While we where few we hit it good.  My stinger was heavy.  Since I arrived early, I had parked on the Highway and rather than pay to park and shuttle my car down, I was cheap and pushed my yak fully loaded up the hill.  I was whipped when I got there.  To bad I am not going to Elk, It would be a good local test run.

I could not believe how strong the wind was about 3-5 miles offshore it was solid white caps.  When I passed Pt. Sur going north the north side was crazy windy.  Lime kiln was in the lee of the steep cliffs with the strong north component in the wind Saturday.  We had a really nice big pocket of calm wind to fish in.

I will post a few more photos from my camera after I convert them to smaller files.

To the LimeKiln crew, Nice stringers of fish. I am so jealous...I can't seem to get back in the grove of thing with all this stuff called training for work.

Great Bass 2, is that the new prowler 15! Looking Nice with all the decals :smt001

Your right about Monterey being slow on the production of rock fish, it should get better in a month or so, just have to let some of the kelp forest grow back

Nice looking dish Scott and not bad either sackyak...

JTF- did you just keep all the reds or is that all was bitting? AWSOME CATCH?

Alex, I caught numerous coppers that I returned, I've learned the recipe for Reds at this spot and that was my goal to limit on 'em.  I only snagged one small black, I hooked up the ling on a giant scampi with an 8oz bullet and coughed up octopus, when I sent it back down for a second ling, it got hit hard and I set the hook and pulled the knot free, bye bye fish :smt012, oh well, I'm just happy to have my reds, I gave a few to friends but now that I have fish in my freeze, I can chase more Salmon and Halibut!!! :smt003 :smt003 :smt003,

Ahmer, I'll send you a pm .    JTF..

Hat's off, gents. I'm hoping to get down there next month.

Hey Scott, glad to hear LK was better than MBK...I made the swell on Friday to be around 8' - is that about right? By the way, I got my first ling (too short) after we talked last. Also, thanks for the location info., it would have been even slower for me.

Alien, any time you are in Seaside we can do it as a day trip.  It would be nice to share the drive.

Lime Kiln is a state park in Big Sur south of Monterey about 60 miles+/-.  There are great rocks and reefs both deep and shallow but the launch/landing is not recommended for the inexperienced.

a little bit of color pref on the lure and the way i make it dance off the bottom, if their there, they always try to tango,  something i learned while fishing there.

i plan to go back for chef's memorial, i may not fish for rockies though, or if I do for a short period of time, then for WSB for a couple hours around the kelp beds.
