NEW Proposed Abalone Regulations

Here are the NEW Proposed Abalone Regulations. It looks like there are two options being proposed.
Option 1: Starting April 1, 2018 all ocean waters are closed to the take of abalone.
Option 2: A line drawn in the center of the mouth of San Francisco Bay will be closed to the south and open to the north of the line. The north will be open from April through November. Limit will be between 1-3 red abalone with a minimum size of 8". There will be a limit of only 2-9 during a calendar year, not 18. There will be a limit on the number of abalone report cards issued and it will be on a first come first served basis.

Speechless.

The only people going for abs will be the poachers.

There are lots of ab's out there, but we are/have been in a down cycle for ideal water/habitat conditions. Then poachers are held accountable for the destruction of abalone.  Poachers should be put in jail for 20-30 days for every ab. Or just cut one hand off!

Well, I think I support Option 2 over Option 1.

I wish they would just keep everything as is except raise the size limit to 9", as a last ditch effort before resorting to these drastic reductions.
