Hi All,

I suffer from sea-sickness.   :smt078  Its funny, b/c I never was prone to ss until a trip to Kauai where we did the sail trip to Niihau in 20-30ft seas.  I puked for 7 hrs to the point of shock and fluids... not cool.  I used to be able to spend many hours OTW, now, 3ft swell does me in.  My propensity to get sick has been a huge topic in my home - mental vs. physical.  My Kauai experience scarred me pretty bad, and I think about it every time I'm OTW.  Ive tried all medications (patch, bonine, DM) and homeopathic remedies (sea bands, ginger, etc) to no avail.

Anyway, the reason for this post was to ask the community about this new product - Releifband (https://www.westmarine.com/buy/reliefband-technologies--reliefband--4706073?recordNum=1).  Has anyone had success with this?  Is this homeopathic or is there actual science backing it up?  For 100 bucs, there should be rational science at work here, but Im not a neurologist (Im a chemist) so unless it is a small molecule, I am pretty ignorant as to how it affects the body.  Since I am pretty much out of options and will get pissed off everytime my day is cut short due to yacking while yaking on a moderate swell day, I will most likely go for it.  Any input on its effectiveness would be greatly appreciated.

Best,
Nolan

didn't work for me.  i believe part of my seasickness is smell related, and part is mental.  I just push through and keep fishing.

I usually do as well... I know my limits, so I usually shut it down long before vertigo starts.

I'd say for $90 its worth a try. If it works great, if not then sell it on craigslist.

Reliefband (https://www.westmarine.com/buy/reliefband-technologies--reliefband--4706073?recordNum=1).  Has anyone had success with this?

My wife used it for her morning sickness during this last pregnancy.  She said it reduced her nausea enough that she didn't throw up, but she still felt mild queasiness every now and then.  She thinks it helped.   :smt102

Thanks.  One thing I can say for sure is it will not stop me from getting out there!  I can puke and rally with the best of them!

This.  If you are afraid about getting sick before you launch, you're already halfway to being sick (at least for me anyway).  Try to tie in your balance against something that you constantly do.  For me, I would keep moving and the feeling will go away.  I don't usually get sick, but if feel it coming, that's what I do.  For example, if I am feeling sick, even a 2-4 swell will do the job.  However, if I keep moving, a 4-8 swell would be easy peasy and the motion sickness will go away  :smt102

I have tried everything over the years.
The relief bands are one of the few things that might offer some relief after you are already queasy. But I ruined two of them because they were not waterproof.
I have had the best luck with scopace until it was no longer sold in the US.
You have to order them from a "compounding pharmacist. :smt002"

Hi I have a seasickness issue "weird group therapy sessions", I find I feel way better after a good up chuck!
Normally I don't eat before I go or during an ocean trip but recently decided to have a bagel with cream cheese before heading to the launch 45 minutes away. No issues at all felt fine all day.
