I loaded the kayak hoping to dive for abs at Fort Ross and Point Arena but never took the yak off the truck this weekend due to wind and lack of experience. Saturday after touring Point Reyes Lighthouse we traveled up to Fort Ross, there was alot of wind. Sunday morning after scouting around my son and I dove right behind the Fort, the visibility was about 3' and we managed 3 just legal abs. We stayed overnight in Point Arena and dove Moat Creek this morning in worse visibility! We rock picked 2 small abs and headed home. stopped at Stillwater Cove on the way back and saw 6 kayakers out, they all had limits of nice abs. You might be able to see them in the picture.

Yeah the vis completed sucked this past weekend. I dove in Monterey on Saturday to try to get some rockfish. Didn't see a single one in about 5' of murky visibility. It's no fun diving in the pea soup. There are much better days!

Thats good stuff! Your son will remember those adventures for the rest of his life. I often reminisce about the ab trips I had with my dad back in the day. Good times.

Thanks for the great report and pics!

Yeah, the conditions this past weekend were not conducive to kayaking or fishing, but ANY time is good for bonding, as both of your smiles show!

Me too, PK!  Way to get your son involved with the ocean, JohnK.  I'll bet he'll look back on times like this one as some of the most adventurous and fun ones of his life.
