At least we're not the Dundernuts this year.  :smt044
It sounds like we need to make it self service. Everyone needs the team for safety reasons. Then those that are competing can get together and measure fish while we are at the potluck.  :smt044

I'll still run it since nobody wants to take it over. Just sign up however you want, and we will sort it out.  I'll post a team roster a week before the event, and you can check it to make sure that we got everything right.

I have help from Chinclan and Hojo, and I'm considering making the scoring easier on myself just by creating some subjective criteria with which to judge team performance (if it's cool with Eric). I don't receive any entry fee $ for the prizes etc. ( I spent some of my own cash though). If anyone has a problem with a subjective metric please PM me.

You know...IF it wasn't for the Team aspect of Gimme Shelter, the A-hulls wouldn't exist.
Which means PIF probably wouldn't be what it is today. (and while I don't want to make this all about me or the A-hulls or whatever...let's just think about that for a hot minute).

So, I fully appreciate this aspect of GS. Thank you for doing practically all the work to coordinate it, Adam. Sorry this reply is not in csv or xml, but hit me up if you need more help...

It seems like there could be a way to use the ATOY input in order to handle the ranking. Rather than have an individual, create teams of individuals then have everyone input there own catches. it can easily be verified with official results but it would take away the responsibilities of doing just about anything. I'm sure there this might not be to complicated of a code change.

Thanks for the suggestion, but we are talking about guys who gripe about needing to use a comma.  You should have seen the madness when I used a googledoc spreadsheet for signups. In fact, I think I started running the signups this way because some of the less computer literate guys had trouble signing up through the googledoc. So yeah, this was an attempt to make it easier on them....

Oh well, someone else can create a better system next year  :smt003

I would've jumped to help you with this Adam, if I were attending this year.  Maybe next year  :smt001.

I love the team aspect of GS and I hope it's there to stay.  It inspires you to cheer for your teammates when they catch a good fish.  It promotes camaraderie and safety ethics.  Not to mention the team names...who doesn't love brainstorming up creative team names?

Thanks PK. I was feeling like a guy doing a PITA job for people who didn't really want to participate in the first place. I really like participating in team tournaments, which is why I said yes to the job ( that and it's hard to say no to Eric, a guy who puts tons of work in so that we all can have a good time).

Also, if anyone is interested in running this thing next year, please speak up. GS is so multifaceted that I would enjoy (and perhaps be better at) contributing in a different way.

Now... on with the sign ups.
