Sad news from the Islander

It is with great sadness we share some news. This evening our chef Rick Elias passed away after a brief stay in the hospital. Rick was a dear friend to us and a co-worker for nearly a decade on the Islander.  As his colleagues and passengers alike can attest, he was a wonderful man - a quick witted hard worker with a heart of gold. It's not easy to cook for that many on the high seas and Rick always managed to do it with a smile on his face, delivering a delicious meal at the same time.  Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.  We will miss you Geezer!

sad news indeed.
A quality cook aboard can make or break the experience on a vessel. It could be argued that the cook has more power than the captain in some instances .

Though I never met him, I have seen plenty of pics of the delicious grub he fixed up for my buddies.
Hope he is flippin' and fryin' in peace.

Like Sean said. Though I had never met him I remember spending a lot of time looking at the food he created and lots of my buddies eating.

I Think of all the hard work and love that goes into our grub at ncka events so for this guy to take that on for so long, and on the high seas, must have taken a special kind of dude.
