Thanks guys.

Fiver - I also use and abuse my kayak gear, which is why I like a higher-end pair of shades with glass lenses.

I like being able to wipe my sunglass lenses clean with my T-shirt, rag, Buff, etc, without worrying about scratching them. You just can't do that with cheap poly lenses.

For Oakley, anything Black Iridium Polarized is good for all purpose.  Tons of style, plus you can find tons of Oakley store everywhere.

This one will make everything looks a cool blue (I have this one, a little too showy for me, but I like the resulting vision):

I use both everyday, but never kayak fishing (I abuse and lose things kayaking way more than I should).   IMHO, Maui Jims have a (very) slight clarity advantage over Costas. Both I would put on a pedestal above any other brand I have tried, you can't go wrong with either.  Oakleys are nice, but not in the same league as either of these brands.

No doubt that Oakleys are not on the same league.  But all sunglasses won't see too well with a dried up salt water spot :)  Make sure you have a sunglasses strap so you don't curse yourself in case of a spill.

Yakyakyak - As far as I can tell, Oakley doesn't make any glass lenses. I STRONGLY prefer glass since it doesn't scratch easily.

Maybe I'm mistaken?

Alex, you're right, Oakley doesn't make glass lenses for US market.  As a matter of fact, I think 99.9% sunglasses makers do not sell glass lenses for US market due to safety concern and regulation (I should know this since my wife is an expert at this).

I have two pairs of Costas, a couple pair of RayBans and Oakleys.
I prefer the Costas but for kayak fishing will wear some cheapo
Pollarized 20 dollar pair.

My vote is for Oakley.  Whatever you decide, make sure you try it on in person, vision through lens maybe different in person.  Also, spend the extra bucks for polarized version.  'went through the same thing last year, 'decided on Oakley.

Screw expensive ones, these were backups but became the primary after breaking my 80$ Hobie sunglasses:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000EYYEN6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I bought both colors, both look good to me, fit my big head really well, and dont cost enough to worry about loosing/breaking them. :smt004

I've gone back and forth with this question for years, owned them all. Hands down and no question about it, for best polarization, clarity, and lens quality.... GLASS is the only way to go, and COSTA are the best... Second behind them are Smith, third behind them are Maui Jim (Same MFG and Glass as Oakley)...

I will never buy a cheap pair again, you just have to take care of them. Plus Costa provides lifetime warranty for lens replacement and frame replacement so you get what you pay for. Trust me, I've spent 1000's of hours on the rivers and ocean, with more then 2 dozen brands, styles and types of lenses.

I have a pair for sale too... Just saying, They're new never worn, still in the box, and I'd sell em for $120 less then what you'd buy em in a store for...

$150 for a $270 pair... Warrantied for life... or make me a deal... Costa Tuna Alley 580G Blue Mirror Black on Black...

Rippinlips - I gonna try to find somewhere local (Oakland) to try on a pair of Tuna Alleys. If they fit (and you haven't sold yours by then), I'll definitely be interested.

I'm a Maui Jim fan.  Or was.  I've 'lost' at least 3 pair by carelessly leaving them laying out where others 'found' them.  Hmmm.....

For me,  Costa "Brine" Blue poly lens with 1.5 pwr reader last 6 yrs. Gave away my Maui Js after trying these for daily work, play and stupidity.  I wear these daily and they see everything from Extreme sierra snow/cold to  ocean salt to  fire... Love Em!! .  Last pair 2 + yrs old,  dinged lens at work this summer while on the job, Customer Service quick and replaced with Brand New pair  for 85.00.   Wear leash, chums or necklace thing when on the water and have not lost em (yet).  I am a smaller guy and Brines fit great.  Fisch, Howler and Tuna Alley too big for me. I have used many cheaper (not cheap) sunglasses and after wearing them from dawn to dusk my opinion is Costa. Yes... Glass lens is superior, I have glass lens for driving and safe non active times, but Costa Poly Lens are clear, distortion free and will take a hit now and then without breaking.    But like all tools and equipment,  try, use, and buy what works best for You.  See Ya OTW in your new shades.   :smt004

Had always been a Pats fan.  Way back then when I used to live in SoCal, I was LA Rams fan, then I moved to the North East.   I might wake up one day and come back root for the local team, but I might be too entrenched.  I told my daughter that she is a Niners fan, I have a feeling she has the power to convert me.

Sounds like you were a Raiders fan a couple weeks ago.
