You're welcome to shoot my xd40 anytime. It is snappy too and I load down to reduce the barrel flip. I have gone towards long slide pistols to help against the muzzle flip that really screws my shot up.

Glock 23. In seconds you can swap out 9mm barrel and shoot cheaper ammo. Had an XD like the glock better. If I could redo it I would just buy a 9mm though. With self defense rounds I'd really prefer the less recoil for more rounds on target.

I'm pretty sure with one .40 cal in the chest cavity that most assailants will be done trying to assault. I hear ya though but I prefer accuracy over quantity. Practice practice practice.

I'm pretty sure with a 9mm self defense round the same will happen unless there are drugs etc...

"Stopping power" has been shown to be more bs as time goes on. Shot placement.

More rounds on target of anything. And I know I personally get more in target with  a 9

You concealed carry a wheel gun? I've got a S&W M66 on my roster but never had the balls to carry it.

Anyone dremel their trigger guard on their glock? The thing digs into my finger. Probably gonna give it a shot also gonna add a slide release from a g22. The release on the 23 doesn't work to good for a lefty.

My feeling on a good .40 is that there are a lot out there. I personally own Glocks for my .40's and I will give you my reasons.

Easy to work on.
Barrel swaps are relatively easy and in expensive.
Modularity, something many other gun makers have missed the boat on.  I can take the magazine from my glock 22 and stick it in my my 26 compact, or my 27 sub.  by a .22 kit and now I can remove the slide and drop in .22 slide and now I am shooting .22 lr. Switch barrels (aftermarket) and I can shoot 9mm, or .357 SIG.

Now if you really want to blow your mind get the Glock 21 in .45 ACP, you can go from .22 to .460 Rowland, with 9mm, .357 SIG, .40, 45 ACP and 10mm as options. Show me another pistol that has that much variety.

Want to turn into a carbine, can be done!  Oh and many of the newer  AR Carbines are coming set up for Glock Magazines, so there is that! I know of no other pistol with that much to offer.  Try a Glock, for that matter try them all before you spend your money on something. Find what fits you first,  can acquire the sights easily, and feel comfortable with.
I bought g23 and damn that .40 is snappy going to pick up a 9 mm barrel soon.

Really I am surprised to hear that. I hear that a lot from people who had the 27, but not the 23. I have slip on grips on all of mine. To be frank I have shot some of the hotter .40's  and haven't had much issue with them.   The 27 is really my favorite, besides my Makarov. Try a slip on before you give up, and for target I don't they get much "softer" than Winchester white box. My 20 is snappy, but I love the thing.  When the time and money are right I really want to try a .460 Roland conversion out, pressures .

Before I would take a dermal to a gun, If I may suggest course sand paper to a fine paper and finish with a bit of wet sanding. I find it to be a cleaner look overall when I am playing with Kydex.

Just took a little getting used too.  I absolutely love it notched the trigger guard a little much more comfortable. Also added a forward slide stop for a lefty ,and boodads grips which are made in Modesto.

LOL..you kids and your Glocks.  HK USP 40.  Carried it for years and it it never failed.  Not sure you can find it for under $500 though.  As a backup and for UC operations, I carried the Kahr MK40 Micro.  Decent gun but very small and kicks like a mule.
