This is a good read:

http://inthesetimes.com/article/19625/robert-reich-donald-trump-democratic-party-president

Wherein Democrat, Bernie supporter, highly intelligent, socialist progressive, former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich drops a lot of truth.

There are some really smart people on the left.  They were identifiable well before the election and nobody on that side of the fence really ever wanted to listen to them.  And here you are.

I'm a fan of David Brooks. He thinks Trump will either resign or be impeached within the year.

http://www.breitbart.com/big-journalism/2016/11/11/david-brooks-trump-will-resign-impeached-within-year/

What Jerry says about Trump not being part of the GOP's narrative is true and they don't like that.  They can't control him.  They'll want Pence in, the sooner the better so that there will be less "Trump" presidency to mar the 2020 re-election.

Maybe we should start with a discussion of what a "balanced" country might look like?

The way I see it, a "balanced" country is one where ALL humans are respected, treated as equals, and afforded the same rights and opportunities.

Gimme a break. Of course there were powerful organizations that influenced public policy back then (east india trading company.. cough). There also were lots of lies and hypocrisy back then too. Read what Jefferson wrote about slavery, and then compare that to how he treated his slaves. Now compare that to the writings of guys like Washington and how they treated their slaves.

What Thomas Jefferson was talking about is an ideal. At least on the civil liberty front, we have been gradually progressing toward that ideal. Many see Trump's statements towards immigrants (or children of immigrants as was in the case of federal court judge Gonzalo Curiel), as a step in the wrong direction.

Sometimes Brooks makes so much sense I want to use him to smack other conservatives upside the head with his work.  Like on legalizing gay marriage.  But he is waaaaaaaay too socially conservative for my tastes, gay marriage notwithstanding.  He still wants to criminalize drugs and shame sex outside of marriage and otherwise stand in your bedroom.

If he is looking at impeachment or resignation of Trump because he is being forced out by conservatives who want Pence in, I think he both underestimates Trump and Democrats.  You really think the Dems impeach Trump in favor of Pence?  I don't.

I don't either, unless the Republicans can convince Trump to be so abhorrent that his voters bail (I don't think that will happen).

I prefer Will to Brooks, but depart with him on a number of issues. I may be an arrogant ass for thinking this, but I doubt that many Trump supporters are familiar with either Brooks or Will. I would be happy to be proven wrong on this one.

Will is the most popular conservative commentator for the last 40 years and had a weekly column in Newsweek before the internet was a thing. Almost every MSM consuming conservative over age 40 is going to know who Will is.

Living in a totally different state, I saw that America is still alive and kicking. Yes we all have our own political opinions, but we all have one (well two) things in common. We fish and we ghetto the crap out of kayaks for the use. Let be reminded that we have the freedoms handed down to us by many who shed blood for the sake of our liberties.

We live in the greatest nation on earth and let us keep it that way.

If womens rights are stripped away, it's not Donald's fault.  For too long women demanded the same rights without the same risks.  Same for every other 'special interest'.  I've worked HARD and I resent that I haven't, for where I am in this world.
Pay; women, most anyways, have NO idea what it means to need their job.  Most work to fulfill themselves.  I sure never did.  I worked for the support of my family.  How is a family better when the wife and mother isn't there, the kids are in daycare, the husband has no one to support him as the breadwinner?  Working out of the home to pay for rent, groceries, utilities is one thing.  Work for the cell phones, big screen TV's, RV's, big car, is quite another.

Abortion; Hillary wants abortion up to time of birth.  It terrifies me who we've lost.  What great leader or inventor?  All for the sole reason that, in today's medical advancements, women can't or won't use protection and abortion is more a birth control than anything else.

I'm old.  I remember that America where my mother was a mother first and foremost.  Not so self-absorbed as to put even the smallest of concerns of hers above her kids.  Where my father and he fathers before, took to heart what it meant to be the head of the household.
Nowdays, it's becoming too complacent that mothers are best friends and fathers are either not needed or not committed to the family unit.  Many times not even paying child support.  More of MY MONEY going to fund a life choice I do not approve of, so I should have a say in it.
Mostly these days I keep my opinion to myself.  I know it's not popular withe whole 'ME'linnial generation who gets free education, phones, heck everything handed to them by a government who takes it away from me, who earned it and doesn't even have the decency to teach them who to be thankful for.

That's it; I'm tired of being taken for granted and unappreciated for what I've done to make this nation.  I say we, meaning the generation and voters who put Trump in office.

Believe me, we have our eye on Trump.  We'll gut him like a pig if he doesn't pan out.  We didn't like Obama, but he wasn't 'ours'.  We made Trump and by God we'll destroy him if he turns out to not represent us.  We had enough of nonrepresentational with the past establishment parties.

Don't think the angry middle aged white man has gone away with this election.  We are on a stream roll to rebalance the country.  To once more have a say in where our dollars are spent and that our laws represent our values.

Whew!  It's a good thing I moved to the woods.  As a grumpy old troll, it's for the best.  A lot of us are here though, and the establishment forgot that for a moment.
Wow... We see things VERY differently. From this post, it sounds like Trump represents you just fine. You both seem to think things are best when a man is the "head of the household" and women take on some diminished role as a home-maker or housewife. Your post above is pretty much a textbook definition of male chauvinism. Do you realize that?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Do you realize that you said being a mother is a diminished role? That's where our country is now. Being a mother is a substandard role and children are for flushing down the toilet when they inconvience us.

The way I see it, a "balanced" country is one where ALL humans are respected, treated as equals, and afforded the same rights and opportunities. We've been moving in that direction, but the latest wave seems to be pushing us backward (in my opinion).

Jerry seems to have a different idea of what "balance" means. I can't say I understand it, but he has every right to feel that way...

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
By "ALL humans" do you mean all US citizens or all the worlds population?

Do you count the unborn as human? I know some people like to call it women's health so we can gloss over the realities. Hillary supports abortion up until birth. Is that respecting human life?

That is a gross misunderstanding of how it works. Late-term abortion never ever... EVER... happens as an elective abortion. There are only like three doctors in the entire country who will do a late term abortion. And the circumstances surrounding it are ALWAYS beyond tragic. Incomprehensible tragedies. These babies who are aborted in the late term are wanted and loved

Yes Clinton supports it. I support it. No one gets an abortion in month 5-7 just cuz. It's always, always, every single time because the mother *will* die, or because the child will die, or because both the mother and child will die. If you ban late term abortion, you will save 0 babies and kill thousands of mothers.

And furthermore, when "abortion" happens on the 8th and 9th month when the baby can survive outside the womb... this procedure is done by millions and millions of women. We don't call it an abortion. We call it a c-section. And then baby isn't killed. A home is found for the baby if it is unwanted. There is no such thing as a 8th or 9th month abortion. It simply does not exist.

This is why the government needs to stop trying to control women's bodies.
