Saw smoke in the horizon on my way home from work today. Knew something big was burning. Now I know what it is.

I could have written this comment.  On the way home to Chico, smoke on the horizon.  PNF has a fire in the Feather River Canyon.  At least it is a long way from threatening many structures.

Saw the clouds were looking a little funny as I started my commute home, and followed them down to the source.  Looked like a volcano blew it's top.  Picture is taken at south end of SJ airport runway ( On De La Cruz)
This morning I caught a glimpse of flames on the south side of the hilltop at Loma Prieta from down in Scotts Valley!  Too see the flames from there the fire had to be really big.
  Entirely too close to home!

Amazing picture.

As of now, it's burned 1500 acres and is 5% contained:
