Chill with the hunters, hit the surf for perch, or try to get some crab for my GF and daughter......if the season is open.

Yeah this.

You guys are lucky down there. Our closed season is longer than our open season up here.

Oregon is open year round tho and Brookings is only a 2 hour drive. Weather windows are infrequent tho.

Live your life, the way you want to be remembered. Don't have any regrets, we only get this one dance to make it count. Start at your eulogy, and work backwards.

Until recently, ocean season was closed Nov thru May. So 3 months doesn't seem very long. But I'll probably be shore fishing, yaking & shore for steelhead/stripers, kayak crabbing, and kayaking for sanddabs.

Being completely new to kayak fishing, I just read about boat-based angling closure during Jan-Mar ... for most species.
So, what do you guys do during those 3-3.5 months?
Do you all turn into shore-based anglers?
Diving sounds cool... but water during those months must be extremely cold.

Or do you just pack it up and count down days?

Or go out on non-groundfish trips?

Just curious.

Watch people get mad on NCKA and yell at each other for 3 months and listen to everyone try to update the AOTY / DOTY 2017 rules a month after 2017 started.

I go perch fishing and mostly hike with my dogs and do some photography.
Thresher in avatar and Soupfin Shark in signature both caught and pic taken by me.

30th place / 1132.25 pts / 7 Species - AOTY 2015 (moving up a little!)

Always looking for new people to fish with!
