New to this site.  Not sure of protocol & all that.
39, from Salinas.
Been fishing off and on a long time.
Got into Kayak fishing last year.

Went straight to the big boy toys.
Got my hands on a Hobie outback mirage and a full set of equipment for 900 bucks.
BEST INVESTMENT EVER.

Ive gone out in Monterey bay about 6-8 times and Moss landing once.

I don't have any local fishing partners.
My only partner is out of San Jose and doesn't make it as often as I'd like to get out there.
I'm still new, But Id like to keep getting out there.

I have so much fun every time, its like an addiction.
But no matter what I cannot go out alone, it would be dumb.

So if anyone local, Monterey bay who frequents Monterey bay and surrounding area's.
Id love an invite.  I'm fully geared up and always learning.

NExt on my agenda aside from Lings and Rockfish, is to try some kelp forest fishing, as well as some Halibut fishing and would like to troll for stripers near short if thats possible.

Send me a text if you live in the area and don't mind a tag along.

Welcome to the madness!

It sounds like you got a great deal. There are a lot of people kayak fishing in the Monterey Bay, so you won't have trouble finding company. Once you get 10 posts, there is a "members only" board where most hookups and reports are posted. If you don't see a hookup to your liking, post one.
Are you pondering what I’m pondering?

Whats up HotChicken (or HC...or maybe H-sizzle haha). It always feels weird addressing people by their screen name, especially in person. I think its funny. [Side note: if you want to see a bunch of awkward introductions by fellow kayak-fishing junkies, go to the Pay It Fwd fundraiser event on Saturday in Monterey!]

Anyways, there is a great group of local kayak fishers--at least 40 that I can think of! So you should be able to find partners by attending hookups and participating.

Then you'll probably form lifelong friendships and plan trips amongst your new crew, charging up and down the state in search of the next hot bite...be it salmon in Bodega, or white seabass in Santa Cruz, halibut in the North Bay, spotted bass at lake Berryessa, stripers in the delta, or just a nice mellow trip to Carmel. Meanwhile you'll obsess over the best way to upgrade your kayak, which gear to use, hunting down deals, and maybe even aquire another kayak (or 3).

I know this sounds weird. But that's the typical NCKA experience. And that's pretty much what people mean when they say: Welcome to the Madness!
