Anyone use a fish bag for storage as to keep the hull cleanish?

I use a fish bag on the deck behind my seat. Won't fit in the hull.

My idea of a fish bag is a burlap sack not some insulated carry-all.  Kept on deck for easy access.  Keeps my hull clean and odor free.

Thank you, keepin it real and on the cheap.  On that note, no need to put anything on ice while fishing, due to the freshness of the catch?  Do you bleed your fish?

No, I don't bleed my fish.  Just the opposite.  Thanks to the fangs on lings I usually end up with a bloody finger or two.

Wow, I've seen LoletaEric videos on youtube and he manhandles em' and it gives me courage.  Thanks for the info, and I hear my blood has a good color.

I always put my fish on ice as soon as I catch them, and I usually bleed or gut them right away as well.  Leaving fish stewing in the rear cargo area of a kayak for a couple of hours degrades the quality of the fish.

For salt, I was taught to bleed 'em, then put 'em in or under wet burlap. You can dip the fish into the water every so often to keep them cool and wet. Ice them as soon as you get to shore.  Although, this year, I bought a fish bag to try out.  :smt003

I don't keep many fish, but when I do, I have a wet burlap sack in the bottom of my rear tank well that I throw my fish on, than a second wet sack on top ... After bleeding out. I also splash a little water with my paddle as I move from spot to spot.
Fish stay fresh all day

I always bleed any fish I plan to eat, then put it in ice ASAP. Better quality that way.

You bring ice on your kayak?  I have a jackson crate for some ice, but bleeding em' seems to be the first step in preservation

Yes. I put about 5 lbs of ice in my kill bag and it keeps my catch cold for up to 8 hrs while I'm out.

Catch, bonk, bleed, and into a cheap insulated cooler with a couple frozen water bottles.  You will notice a difference in a quality of the fillets.

Catch fish, put on gameclip, slit gills, then throw in tankwell covered by burlap. I actually let them bleed out in the water for a few minutes, before throwing in the tankwell (blood is more viscous in the water). And if you bonk first, they won't flush out all their blood...
Unless I'm fishing freshwater. In which case, just release it...freshwater fish are gross.  :smt005
