New Scent Chambers

I've been watching videos online and seen some guys using "Scent Chambers". It seems like a novel idea and shows a lot of promise (not sure how long they have been around).  In essence the chambers release a scent trail out slowly attracting fish to the lure rather than pouring the pro-cure directly on the lure/bait.

I see a couple of good applications for this idea besides its intended use. The first that come to mind is "Crabbing". I can pour "fish" sauce from the asian supermarkets (Cheap), into these chambers, or even pro-cure herring scent. The upside is that the chambers are compact and versatile.  I can also see it being useful for salmon trolling.

Anyone have experience with these scent chambers? I think i'm gonna pick some up and give it a try. I'll post up my results.

Branson Baits (I think?  Mike?) has swimbaits with integrated scent chambers. I tried one last year but didn't put in enough time or effort to know if it made a difference.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Scent?
They advertise the heck outta those things on Angler West TV. http://www.anglerwest.com/
With the Procure gel, I always coat the fishing line directly above my lure...adheres to braid pretty good.

I use the Procure Gels, they stick and last at least 30 minutes on my lures.

Ive used them. It seems to work well. I was at the Forebay FnC and trouble getting a bite. Switched to the A-rig with scent chamber and got bit in 5 min and again in 10 more. I was using the scent they market that is the right consistency to bleed out of the chamber.

I haven't looked into these at all, but is there a way to clean out this "scent chamber" once you're done fishing?  Or does the scent just hang in there and decay until it turns into some nasty "fart chamber" and spoils my lure box?

Ha! Yeah, Angler West sure pushes these scent chambers...

I've been thinking of trying them, too. Sure can't hurt. And hey... You've gotta have swivels anyway, so why not?

Good point... Hadn't thought about that. Hope they aren't meant to be single use. That would be stupid.

If you use them with the new "water soluble" scents they should clean themselves after a little trolling.

Gonna give a new meaning to mystery tackle box.  Its going to be an eye opener for sure when you open that tackle box on a nice hot day.  :smt044

Joking aside, I was actually wondering the same thing.  This thing could be a bit nasty to reuse over and over, and they aren't cheap!  I am a believer in scents though.

Especially if you put one of the really nasty ones in there, like Bloody Tuna.  Sitting in the hot sun all day, then you go and open the box...barf!  The corn and garlic ones would likely be more benign.

I too believe in scents.  I've had several instances where scent on the lure was a deciding factor.

Make sure you dont lose a scent chamber with bloody tuna scent in your hatch. you'll smell it before you can find it  :smt044

I just went ahead and called Oregon Tackle. Apparently you can slide the swivel out of the clear tube and easily clean it with some warm water and soap. Friendly gal on the phone said they only clean theirs out about once a week or so (lucky bastards must get to fish a lot...).

They also look like they'd be very easy to make... I think I even have everything I'd need.
