Hermitage brewery......although the hipsters have figured it out now so I'll be on the lookout for another spot soon.


And although buen gusto has great tacos and shrimp ceviche, nobody tops burritos from pink elephant.

OK, this restaurant is not in the South Bay, but I wanted to recommend it anyway.  My paralegal's wanted to lunch near Ocean Ave in Santa Cruz at this hippy dippy, non-GMO, taste like tree bark looking place.  Turned out actually very good.

She: Earth Burger ($8.50).  Me: Cup Clam chowder ($5.50) and Fish Sandwich ($10.50).  Both sandwich orders include small side salad and light dressing. 

She said burger was good. 
My chowder was more of a clear veggie stew with four little claim in it, not very clammy, lots of bacon, hardly resembled New England at all.  Not so good if you a chowder traditionalist.  But the fish sandwich, mama mia!  "Local rockfish."  At this time of year, that means its frozen, so not especially "fresh" if that's what they were going for.  But it was really, really good.  A generous, boneless fillet, lightly breaded and fried, served with pickled red cabbage and an aioli.  Tons of umami, layered texture for days, and all around delicious.

Next door to Southern Kitchen (which itself is a sawwwwlid bfast joint) sits Billys Boston Chowder House, newly opened in Los Gatos. 

Ate Billys first time this month.  Started with a sampler of lobster bisque, manhattan, and boston chowder.  bisque and manhattan were each way good, but the boston ironically was meh!  had some other items weren't too bad. $100 for two entrees, sampler, 1 glass wine, kids dish and lemonade.

place is quite small, reservations req'd on weekend for sure.  Several bar seats in case you wanted to drop in and watch the game while you ett.

I'm looking fwd to going back, trying some other things they had on menu. 

Check it out 'Ton, i think you n the boys may like it.

Went here tonight for dinner with the family.
Lobster Bisque, Fish & Chips, Seafood Linguini, Jambalaya and Paella.

I had the Paella and it was very flavorful.
