Mariscos Costa Alegre

Address: 855 N 13th St, San Jose, CA 95112
Phone: (408) 280-5014

This place is la bomba  :smt001

Went here to have a couple Super Micheladas with Ex Kayaker a couple weeks ago and had the Levanta los Muertos which is a seafood cocktail with tons of seafood.........muy bueno.

Then went back on Father's day and ordered this big ass seafood platter to share between me and my two boys. Still had leftovers to take home...........yummy!
The Mariscada Caliente is a lot bigger than what the picture shows (top pic) and the plate is also deeper and it is full of octopus, headless shrimp, whole shrimp, green lipped mussels, crab, veggies and a whole lot of flavor. The plate is probably 20 in x 10 in x 3 in.

Any So.Bay delivery or takeout recommendations during COVID clampdown?

Grown weary of cooking (and cleaning, laundry, etc.), craving 4 some c-food, not tilapia at safeway.  wd even settl 4 long dong silvers, but nearst = stockton.

apprec8 any shared tips  :smt006

Not eating out at all. Lots of home cooking.

I think there’s an H.Salt Esquire on the East Side but not sure if they are open.

Understand the sentiment, feeling that way some, too - resisting so far.

Maybe best to suck it up and keep cooking, Martin! Check the recipe thread?

Black Sheep Brassiere in Willow Glen, or Forthright Oyster Bar in West Campbell. Both can be pricey, but the question was favorite, not most affordable!

Took my nanny and her husband to Hinodeya Ramen on Bascom in Campbell.  they're a white couple, LOVED it.  has been craving to go back with their daughter who is a ramen aficianado.

Super fast, and low touch service model with the QR code menu.  One drawback is the parking really sux.

Also recently had a wonderful meal at (don't laugh) RED ROBIN at Westgate on Prospect and Saratoga road.

The food was solid as expected, but we lucked out with one of the finest servers that I've had the pleasure of eating from since covid.  Her name was Haley and she was incredible.  I gave her a 300% tip, I was so impressed.

She's put her two weeks notice in, and is moving on to hostess at the Four Seasons Palo Alto.  I'll write another review after checking out her new digs, but can't imagine it would be anything but stellar

I think about CDM when I eat out in SoBay bc of the many recommendations he shared in this thread of eating out w his boys.

Last night, we 8 at A Bellagio, an excellent mom n pop long time establishment in DT Campbell.   The lasagna was excellent, and I awoke coveting another serving.  I think CDM wouldve approved

New spot for me in Vietnam Town.  I normally eat at Pho Ha Noi but the place is always super busy.  Found….Pho This Way…right up the plaza and it’s been my go to spot.

As a son of a pho restaurant owner for 30+ years, I really like Pho Dang. I have nothing against Pho Hai Noi but I’m just not a fan of their different broths at different locations. I don’t add any sauce to my broth since I like know what is in it or not. Give it a try next time you’re around that area.
