Feb 10 -11 Camp and kayak fish San Luis res.

Rickey M. and I will be looking for some big stripers - company welcome. This will be my first trip to San Luis - I'm looking forward to yak fishing new waters. If any of you have some tips, please feel free to share intel.

The big res is were the big fish are.

Unless things have changed in the past few years, all fly fishing tippet class and/or the freshwater fly fishing record striper have come out of the forebay. Search for Al Whitehurst, Len Beardon or Hank Ferguson in combination with "striped bass".

Scott - things WILL CHANGE.....once Rickey and I start throwing out our presentations to the San Luis stripers 

I really doubt that there are any big stripers left at the Forebay - we would heard about it by now. I agree with Rickey, the BIG BOYZZ will come out of San Luis...there's just so much water and so much places to hide  Scott, join us and let's make history 

I'll be at a birthday party on the 10th but will probably join you guys on Sunday.  If you can, post the location where I might be able to find you guys.

I want to try and hit Portugees Cove, I think launching at Dinosuar point will be the easiest way to get there and back if the wind shows up. I've been out there by myself when the wind hit, not very fun.

That's the "trash racks". And no longer an option due to post September 11 security measures.

Anyway, I'm not saying that you won't slay them up in the reservoir. And I hope everyone has a great time. I just wanted people to know that the forebay is great at producing big fish, just as much as the main lake.

I agree with you Scott.Although on Oneill I'm of the opinion the large schools of smaller fish are making it hard to catch bigger fish. You've got to get your lure down through them to the big ones.
This is a good time of year for the big lake.

Sounds really tempting.  I might have to get with you guys on the next go around. Not sure if I can get liberty for that weekend from the GF. I am imagining you guys are camping at Check point #12? 

Red- still don't know where the campsites are - I've never been in the area.  I'll have to call and find out where's the best place to camp - hopefully somewhere close to the water.

I know both of  Rickey and Mooch are truck campers, but find out if there are any tent sites available.
