I talked to Julia a few days ago.  their last trip, last week, had to be cancelled.  Wind and big south swell.  Conditions are holding for us though.......

On a different note, I may have to fly down and back to make the trip work best for family.  Anyone sorta close by (Salinas, Watsonville, even San Jose?) that would be willing to huck my stuff (rods, one tub 'O Stuff, Boat) for me? I would contribute to your gas money and could deliver the stuff on Thursday or Friday, Pick up 1st day after return?

Or, if coming through Santa Cruz maybe arrange a pickup.

A lot to ask I know, but schedules are tightening at Casa Bushy and I'm low on WAF.

I was speaking to my daughter last night. She attended San Diego State U. and brought up the subject of parking down near the Landing. She said parking is rather limited and that long term parking might be the norm, after dropping gear off.

Would somebody fill me in on the parking situation in San Diego, for the 3 days we will be off shore?

Thanx

Park at fishermans landing right where we load the boat. I think it's 8 bucks a day.

I might be able to help you out if I can figure out my vehicle situation/configuration.  I've got a newer truck now with a roof top tent thingy, I'll probably have to remove it for 2 boats (not super fun).  Y'all think it's be safe to leave the newer truck parked with the tent on it?  Got an older truck too, older truck might not be as comfortable on the drive down.  I wanted to leave Friday sometime before noon possibly and drive 1/2 way down or so.  Located in Royal Oaks/Prunetucky area.  Shoot, also forgot to add I might chill in SD area overnight the day we get off the boat.

OK thanks, Lopezcador and I will be traveling in one truck with 2 yaks so, $4/day to share is not too steep for overnight parking, if it's right next to the Landing.

See All o y'all soon & fish on!

Hey Bushy,
Me and the family are driving down on Sat. We're only bringing my kayak, the girls will be hanging out on the beach in La Jolla while we're on the boat, so we have room on the rack and plenty of room in the truck. We'll be staying in SD until the next Saturday possibly stopping on the central coast for a night on the way home so we couldn't get your stuff back until Sunday afternoon/evening. Could possibly meet up on Thursday, would give me an excuse to drive to SC while theres a solid S swell. :smt002

Thanks Soleman!!  Looks like Mark Eelkram is willing to carry the weight, and he's my roomie on this trip plus he's coming right back up which is good for carrying fresh fish haha.

Mucho appreciado.

Does anyone towards the middle or front of the boat want to switch rooms with Abdiver and I? The first night I went on the islander two years ago, I never made it to the room because I was seasick. I was fine the rest of the trip. I hear the back of the boat may not be the best for someone who gets sick.

If not its all good.

On a different note, I may have to fly down and back to make the trip work best for family because I was super jealous of seeing Polepole roll up to Fisherman's Landing nice and fresh after not having to drive for 9 hours.

Fixed that for ya.

I was having trouble keeping a live sardine on the bottom while slow trolling and I was using 8oz. I'm gonna bring a 12oz this time. What sucked was the drift was so slow that the 8oz kept me from drifting when I didn't paddle and when I did paddle any faster than 1 mph I had to let out a lot of line to hold bottom. I eventually gave up on halibut hunting and focused on live lining for YTs.

If you just want to drop some squid down to the bottom, 2 or 3oz should be fine.
