It's getting better but we aren't quite there yet up here. HMB and Monterey look good. Brookings and Coos Bay tested below threshold on Monday and another clean test means Orgon opens as early as next week.

I'm fairly optimistic at this point that the numbers will be in line well before then.  I'm a bit concerned about how the political process will play out since that is never a guarantee when it comes to crab.

Live your life, the way you want to be remembered. Don't have any regrets, we only get this one dance to make it count. Start at your eulogy, and work backwards.

So get this-

Oregon had two tests below the 30ppm threshold, which was supposed to open the fishery. But, since the 2nd good test showed higher levels than the first good test, they balked on reopening.

I fear this is going to be politiked for no good reason all up and down the coast.

I am itching to get some crab also but if I am going to poop myself or get sick then waiting a little longer should not be to much of a problem.  Now if the water was calm I may feel different.

Need crab by Jan 1st for our annual cioppino  feast.  I have fish, scallops, clams and octopus already.  I usually just grab the crabs and mussels last min so they are fresh.  Would suck if I had to buy imported crab.

From a WA DFW email today.

Quote
Commercial crabbing in Willapa Bay remains closed. Shellfish managers from Washington, Oregon and California will meet next week to determine when to open commercial Dungeness crab fisheries, including those on Washington’s southern coast.

More good news from Oregon.

Razor clamming has reopened north of Tillamook Head (Clatsop beaches, northern Oregon).

Mussels have reopened on the entire coast.

Razor clams hold domoic acid the longest, and are the only thing left closed in parts of Oregon.  Hopefully we see major improvement in California soon.  CDPH is lagging on publishing test results, we don't have results for the last 5 weeks (!) out of Humboldt County.

Ask and ye shall receive.

Seek and ye shall find.

Still slightly elevated in Eureka and Bodega Bay but still dropping overall and most numbers are good. Still, we wait.
