Man! What a blast! Thanks to all for making  a newbie feel at home.

ScottV-
I have your table cloth and clamps. I'll get them to you next time I see you.

The cat fishing was off the hook last night and this morning. 9 cats caught. I caught one this morning that weighed in at 13lb 13oz. What a freaking beast. Felt like I was trying to pull up the Titanic! So much fun. I know what to do next year!

The weather couldn't have been any nicer. The water quality was much better than last year and the camp ground was better also. I wasn't having any luck on the water so I saved it for the raffle.  :smt044 congratulations to the winners. I'd like to know where that catfish hole is. This was a smaller turnout and that was nice. After the potluck and the awards we had a fun time around the fire. Thanks to the sponsors for making all this possible. Maybe next year I'll at least get a bite.  :smt005

The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope.  ~John Buchan

I started a another post because I didn't see this one first. Sorry.

The weekend was a blast. We rolled in Friday Night and camped with everyone at the state park. Saturday fishing was slow for most. There were still a few people to manage their 5 species. Big congrats to Naoaki on his big win. He was beyond stoked. We did a little demo day for those wanting to try some of the new kayaks coming out like the Nucanoe Pursuit, and Eddyline C135. After that we had our pot luck and awards. Rockfish or Wing Shooter should be posting the results soon. James Rider won the raffle kayak, and ended up hooking up selling it to Worm Guy for dirt cheap so he could get his daughter into the madness.

After the potluck and party Matt gathered up the left over Lockford Sausage, and we used it for bait to drift for Cat Fish. At first I thought it was hopeless, but about an hour in Matt hooked up with a monster. It was just over 13lbs. Over the course of the evening we hooked up with a total of 7 cats all over 10lbs. It was a beautiful day/ night on Clear Lake, no wind and a full moon in the evening.

Huge thanks to Rockfish, and Wingshooter for making the event happen. We had a blast. I can't wait to get out there and do it again! See everyone at the port.

"I'd like to know where that catfish hole is."

Traildad-
We drifted the flats in front of the park. Two guys in a boat were out all night friday/saturday. Maybe they had chum out? There sure we're a lot of catfish in the area. We used to throw cans of Alpo out the night before catfishing when I was a kid.

Sorry about the late organizers report.

Amy, Henry and I arrived late Friday as is our apparent custom.  One of these days we will arrive before dark, I swear.  With the help from our friends we got the trailer backed in and set up, seriously I had 4 or 5 people providing direction with flashing lights and verbal commands yet I didn't hit anything ;)  Once set up we joined the party around Riders awesome firepit and hung out until after midnight.

Saturday morning Wingshooter and I set up early and wrist-banded the waiting anglers for a dawn start time.  By 9:00 all anglers were on the water and chasing fish.  Radio chatter was minimal all day except some guy from Texas who had his bluetooth speakers too close to the VHF and we all got to hear fuzz while he rocked out ;)

Dan's demo day seemed to go well as a few walkers and bike riders took advantage of the assortment of great boats he had on the beach.  The kids were loving playing on the beach all day and many many rollypollys were relocated from under algae mats to new homes in the tall grass of the forest next to the beach, lessons about preferred habitats will have to wait I suppose...

As the 2:00 check-in neared, everyone was clustered around a picnic table filling out score sheets.  When I picked up the stack, there were 3 without names, I had Naoaki radio that folks had until 2:00 to get their names on the sheets and suddenly guys showed up out of breath and got their names down.  One of these days a potential winner is going to forget that part and will be awfully bent out of shape...

After the check-in we had a few hours before the pot-luck and drinking and carousing ensued before the Sausage-fest of a pot-luck began, seriously, there was so much sausage and meat it was unbelievable that only 17 people had brought it all.  It looked like everyone had only brought meat!  Fortunately it was all delicious, even the catfish thought so, as there was so much that the catfish hunters later took Lockford sausage as catfish bait!

The winners this time were:
1st:  Uminchu Naoaki with 631.75 points
2nd:  Rider with 542 points
3rd:  Bullshark with 538 points

Saturday a few of us resumed our carousing after the awards and once again had a blast!

Sunday was the normal wake and pack routine as everyone moseyed out of the park and no one was hassled for late departure that I know of.

Assuming that this event happens again, I know we will have it at the state park, clean facilities and friendly staff made it great.  Even the raccoons were helpful, there was not a scrap of food left on the tables each morning  :smt044

A big shoutout to all our sponsors, HEADWATERS!!  EGO NETS, LOWRANCE, MOUNTAIN CORK ROD CASES, C&C MARINE, MONSTER TACKLE.COM, CALIFORNIA CANOE AND KAYAK, AMERICAN LEGACY TACKLE, HOOK 1, KOKANEEMART.COM, ADVENTURE SPORTS, SEPS TACKLE

Take a moment and patronize these folks and let them know you heard about them through our events, they are a huge part of why we can do this!

Pics and remaining scores when I get home.
