paddle in as hard as you can, try to break up some channels.  come back later and fish the channels. with bread. for carp. then destroy all carp.

Blade runner 3/4 OZ weedless jig heads with 5 inch pearl basstrix paddle tails and work whatever pockets you can find. There is bait in those weeds and stripers will be on the edges.

Am I the only one who would MUCH rather catch a big carp than a big bass?

I think they get overlooked because of their limited table value but they are so much fun to catch and put up a great fight. Especially if you can find them in open water, hooking up with one on a trout rod with 6lb. test is a lot of fun. The idea of trying to haul a big carp out of that slop sounds like a blast to me.  :smt007

My wife would prefer that I bring home carp over just about anything else. Go figure...

Mix some cornmeal and sugar, roll it into small balls like power bait and fish it with a bobber size 6-4 hook would be good
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

Bingo. Its kinda gross, but it works. Take a silver dollar sized piece of cheap white sliced bread, roll it around in your mouth until it moistens and forms a tight ball, mold it around a #6 hook under a bobber, and hold on !

For those local to the Watsonville area, there are TONS of good size carp in Pinto Lake - far end of the lake to the right.  They like to roll around on the surface towards the evening hours.  Can catch them off the bottom almost anywhere around the lake.  They had a contest or something not long ago where they paid per/lb for carp to be caught & pulled from the lake.
