hi,

there was a thread couple of years ago (
http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=41994.msg459559#msg459559) with some very nice setup of plano box with rod holders on trident 13.

i wonder if anybody is running something similar on ultra. it seems that cargo area is somewhat deeper on ultra vs. t13, and box sits lower, so there is no much vertical space left to mount rod holders. planning to see  tomorrow if making box taller will help, but maybe somebody already has this resolved?

What?  You no understand Bush Speak?

Ultra 4.7 has a 2 part tankwell.  The one to the front is smaller.  In fits a plano box without rodholders.  With rod holders, it won't fit.  So Bushy puts it in the larger father back part.

Thanks, Bushy! For now I built a crate with rod holders (which also nicely holds a catch, at least small ones), but will explore plano-ing more.

Here's a straight translation.  Polepole got it but he's used to it.

Sebast, I use a triple rod holder mounted on a plano box with my Ultra 4.7.  I just put it in the rear tankwell.  This also leaves the "plano sized" well available for other gear, such as the lip-gripper and bonk stick, as well as my coffee thermos and water bottle.

Anybody know where I can find a plano with rod holders locally? I've tried all the local sporting goods locations in Monterey and Salinas with no luck

i was close :) i actually liked setup with crate, it fits really nicely into big well, and rod holders on far (from me) side are still easy to reach, but also leave lots of space. and plano 1612 fits inside of crate too :) and small well is free for 'gripper water' :)

Now, where do i keep fish? 2 lings + several rocks on a stringer are pretty heavy; and small well is too small.. oh well, more fun.

Paul,

I beleive Dick's have them.  But why not buy from amazon.. its a tad cheaper and free ship if you have Prime.

BTW.. I looked at my box yesterday.  All my hooks were rusted. I dont remember getting saltwater in it.  Dont trust the seal.  I would just use it to target what you want for the day. Not use it as a permanent storage.
