I wasn't going to post this but felt I should for others sake. We went on the Alaskan cruise with Princess not too long ago. There were twelve of us. Now there are 11. Out of the 12 5 came down with a respiratory infection. My cousin died of complications two weeks ago. To say we are all still stunned would be an understatement.

Walter worked his way up to Master Sgt. in the Army at Ft. Lewis in Washington in the 70's and 80's. Went on to be a warehouseman until he retired from a disability of a large pallet falling on him. While in the Army he contracted hepatitis from someone or somehow. never did drugs and fought this health issue his whole life. Not a picture of fine health I want you to know, he smoked and the fucking ravages of that shit played a role in his life as well.  He caught a bronchial infection on the ship. It turned into pneumonia. Three days later his kidneys and liver started to fail. He was taken off life support just one week after falling ill. Fuck! He leaves behind two children and two grandchildren. He also took care of his wife for 35 years who had a permanent disease with which she passed away form three years ago. The man was SOLID. I will miss him dearly. We camped and hiked and caused trouble when we were young and always laughed together whenever we were together.

So the word of warning is that if you have some medical issues at hand already, I would seriously consider not going on an infested ship crawling with germs for a vacation. I'll never go on a cruise ship again in my life. The other 4 who got sick are OK. My Step-mom being one of them. Take care. Live life. Be cautious and don't smoke fucking cigarettes.

Amazing how fragile life can be at times...    Sorry for your loss Craig.

As to cruise ships...  I'd never go on one again.    Captivity like that makes me uncomfortable.  Felt like cattle being moved from port to port.

My condolences Craig.

There have been too many problems in the cruise line industry last few years. Risky industry.

I am so, so sorry for your loss Craig.

I love boats and the sea, but I've always hated cruise ships. You've made me realize i'm not crazy.

respiratory infections are obviously very serious, and they can be such sneaky bastards.
Your words may very well save a life in the NCKAverse.
