So Sorry for your loss Craig it's been a hell of a year for you. It's gotta get better.

Craig, I don't know you but this is just terrible. I'm really sorry for your loss.

I know that this is a difficult topic for you, but if you dont mind, where was this cruise ? My sister and her fiance just went on a cruise about three weeks ago and he came back with a horrible respiratory infection (at first the doctors thought he had contracted TB) that advanced into pneumonia in only a few days. He's on the mend now but it was touch and go for a few days in ICU.

Thanks for sharing the world of warning and sorry again for your loss.

No shit?? That's terrible. It was the Princess line to Alaska. They had announcements everyday about washing hands and using your own bathroom in your suite as opposed to the general public bathrooms. One lady who handed out plates at the buffett would not give you a plate unless you used the anti bacterial hand wash before getting one. I was like Really??

That's crazy. I'm not sure which line, but their trip was through Central America. She said the exact same thing though, the staff wouldn't give you a plate unless you used hand sanitizer right in front of them. They said it was "standard policy," but there's no way that's accurate. Again, very sorry for your loss. Between your experience and my sister's,  if I can't cruise there in my yak, I'm not going.

Hey Craig,
I just read your post and was just blown away. Was this the cruise that you went on when the Albion 2015 was happening?
I am so sorry for you and your family's loss!!!
Goddamm, that's not right!!!!

They should have a big decal on the side of a cruise ship: "Caution going on a cruise may and most likely will be hazardous to your health, board at your own risk!!!!!!!!"
Small print: "we are not responsible for your health, safety and life, from this point on"

Hand washing precautions has to do with norovirus.  As for the infections I sent you a PM with the signs and symptoms of Legionella. That is a bacteria and can be treated, all of you on a cruise ship with a shared HVAC and or showers system?  Of course many bacteria and viruses have initial similar signs and symptoms.   We have to be on guard for this at the VA as it is becoming more and more common.

Craig,
Like others, I am sorry for your loss. I would like to speak to your cousin's smoking habit. It was probably the most important factor in causing his death. All of you were subjected to the infection that killed him. He was a heavy smoker. He died. You did not. See the connection?
Smoking kills.
All of you who now smoke, please stop. Your life is at stake.
My father died of lung cancer due to smoking. I quit in 1978. Best bad habit I've ever quit.

Oh man that's sad news Craig. My heartfelt condolences to your family. That a celebration bringing all of you together should turn out this way... Speechless. Take special care of each other, there may be raw feelings.
