Hi All,

i've always been interested in kayak fishing but never really pulled the trigger.  Just recently I started reading all these awesome threads and decided to go through with it and look for a kayak.  I think my hesitation was that I don't have any friend's that kayak fish, but that's okay.

Anyhow, I found a 2013 Hobie Revo 13 selling for $1600, which seems to be in very good conditon.  The owner only used it a few times and never changed anything on it, so it's basically stock.  I don't think it has the turbo fins either.

How much do you guys think this should go for?  Also, when did the Lowrance ready hulls come out?  Seems like a good alternative to drilling a hole.

I can't wait to find a kayak and start this new adventure.  Any input will be great.  Thanks.

Simon

Thats a fair price, not the best deal but fair, the lowrance ready hull are the 2015 second quarter model. Welcome to the Madness!

Thanks Darius.  Negotiating with the seller right now and looks like he'll sell at 1400.  Wonder if I should wait until someone sells one with FF included for a little more.

Were there any changes from 2013 to 2014?  I can't seem to find any info on this.  Thanks guys!

I thought the transducer-hull came out earlier for the Revo 13...like 2014? Most of the guys with older Hobies (or other kayaks without transducer adapters) just install the transducer inside the hull. Which only requires a small hole on the topside for the wires, so I wouldn't worry too much about drilling.

1400 is a decent deal if it's in great condition. In general, $1100 to 1700 seems like the blue book range for a 2013 Revo 13.

And don't worry that none of your fishing buddies have kayaks yet...because they'll probably want one after they see how much fun you're having; I've seen it happen many times hahaha!

It's in good condition. I talked it down to 1275. Should I jump on it? I still need to buy an FF and turbo fins.

I have a 2013 Revolution, and that model has the transducer pocket.  The transducer pocket is a major advantage, as it makes it easy to mount a transducer and completely protects the transducer.  It isn't just for Lowrance transducers; if you buy a different brand, Hobie sells brackets for a variety of brands of fish finder.

An advantage of buying an un-modified kayak is that you can rig it the way you want to rig it, for the kind of fishing you want to do.  Although it would be nice to get a kayak with the turbo fins and sailing rudder, because you're certainly going to want to add those pieces of equipment.

I know it's a good price and I thought about that but I plan to add some things to it and drill into it. Not sure if I want to do that again on another kayak later.

Krusty sent me a PM first last night so I gave the info to him. If he passes in it then hopefully he leaves the contact info for another member on here.
