In preparation for the Tahoe Salmon Slam we will be doing an e-mail kokanee Q&A on the It's bang time podcast. If you missed Bird's/Ricci's kokanee seminar, or had some additional questions on targeting kokanee in Tahoe then post to this thread, or send me a PM if you wish to remain anonymous.

Podcast will be available at: http://itsbangtime.com/

Tahoe Salmon Slam

Do the opposite of what BMB is doing.  Next!
I generally troll with a scotty laketroller, a shimano talora rod, 35-60' down on a shuttle hawk, with a sling blade dodger+hoochie combo (12-18" back of the dodger), tipped with white shoepeg corn. i carry three powerbait jars full of the shoepeg, with different scents of carp spit, garlic and kokanee special.   Alternatively, I fish a sling blade+spinner combo, 24" back from the dodger, tipped the same, or jig with a p-line 1.5oz jig with a single hook tipped with shoepeg if the fish are schooled.

Please do the opposite of what I do :)

On second thought, do exactly what BMB does.

Or, find fish on FF and drop down to then with some type of koke lure and hope for the best. That is what I do. Key is do not fish until you see them.

I think I need to figure out who to follow. I've never been on the lake before. I was checking it out on my Navionics app and I think I'm going to need a lot more line on my reels.  :smt044 It looks like you don't have to go too far before you are in 600 fow. Anyone have any tips on fishing the lake?

I am hoping the podcast is up tonight or tomorrow. Leo is tied up with doing sound for a movie that is being shot in Sac, and he is also shooting his own documentary, so he has not had time to edit and upload the show for this week yet. I will get on him to see if he can get it done. Good luck up there boys and girls!  :smt006

The Kokanee won't be at 600', unless they are dead. Macs at 200-250'. Did I say that?

Kokes float....at least every one I have tried to release, and then have to net again and put on stringer. Hook the stringer through the eyes, if you clip them through the mouth like a trout, they will fall off. At Berry one year, I had a limit of kokes on the clip, raised the clip to show some people.....not a damn fish on there! Pretty fragile fish. Macks I have had luck at 100-110' along ledges trolling a flasher with minnow.
