I've been kayaking in the last couple of weekends and noticed I can’t believe how much work we put to it. So, “WHY DO WE DO IT?”

Hookup - First we need some company to join, we are about safety first angler second, and there is always safety in numbers

Bait - Buy some squid, tie up some rigs fix the tackle box and organize base on species targeting that weekend.

Anxiety (more of excitement) - Can’t sleep set up the alarm which is pointless cause most wakes up before it even rings.

Loading (home) - My loading is a bit challenging than others I dont have garage to easily stow everything, I have to make at 4-5 trips up and down the stairs, Solution: I load the night before so I don’t have to exhaust any energy in the morning.

Driving – it depend where you heading sometimes it can get really foggy, once you get to mountains, its steep and side winding road. Not to mention we tend to forget something all the time. :)

Unloading - Most has develop what we call technique during the years, but let it be known no matter what techniques still requires excess amount of energy. Specially on fluffy beach sand or stairs uphill and downhill.

Beach Launch - This is probably the most unnerving moment we face depends on where you launch. There are always safety protected areas to launch most of those fishing sux (weighing the reward vs danger)

The REAL Anxiety - We all kayakers have probably heard it! SHARK! There are places known to us that are more shark infested water than others, there are known attacked some know the folks personally. #theredtriangle is a very popular terms for those who knows the places. Every time I fished my favorite spot, I always have the uneasy feeling but with groups it tends to dissipate.

The Unnerving Landing - We all had our fair share of scary moments when you hear the smashing waves on the shore, white bubbles covering the beach and thunder like sounds of waves as they hit and roll on the beach, ahhh I get butterflies on my stomach (many have utter this).

The fun part - After landing uneventful I hope, here comes the moments where you begin to question yourself. "Why do I do this again?"  :smt001 Hauling a kayak on the beach with over 100lbs of weight (gears and catches) after a long day of fishing on the strong drift, well- let just say it’s no fun at all. The good thing is the camaraderie we develop at we are no longer alone hauling everything everyone though with depleted energy there are bros still offers helping hand. AWESOME! Is all that I can say.

The good problem - After hauling all the fish now comes, the "Cleaning" including gears, NO you cannot ignore the cleaning unless you want your house and car smells like untidy woman ;) yes everything I mean everything needs to be rinse.... (I usually stop by at Half Moon Bay to clean my stuff.)

WHY DO WE DO THIS A? Simple, this is where our passions, despite all aforementioned we always look forward to do it again, the friendship built, camaraderie and the smile after the exhausting day, the contentment, the feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction!

I CANT WAIT TO DO IT AGAIN!

Quote I heard last weekend from Soleman's wife- The fish we catch on kayak are actually "Negative Calories" make so much sense to me! :smt002

Only "Untidy"  :smt001 That is not being misogynist.... :smt003 Have ever left a piece of squid on your hook on hot days for a day inside your house/garage? I rest my case... :smt002

I always think the same thing when I dont catch much fish and loading back to go home..

I mainly do it for fish.   I ate fish I have never ate before kayaking.  Mackinaw, Ling, golfer.   I also love the ocean even when I screw up on the surf and lose my things.

I have seen wales and dolphins that people OOO   ahhhh  for from land.

Really like catching or hope to catch fish I never hooked before..   Many more to go.

It takes a lot of energy to prepare, drive, unload, fish, load the car, drive, clean.  I keep reminding myself that it's the good kind of pain, similar to how you would feel after working out or running.  Being out on the water with my brothers and sisters is an awesome feeling for me...catching fish is only a bonus...

It's all part of the kayak fishing madness...

There's just something about being on the water, up close and personal to nature, and inserting yourself back in the food chain!   :shark

I don't like gyms, and I like fresh fish.

And I'm good at kayaking :smt003

Adventure.   :smt001

Yup.

This week I paddled out with only two other guys, and we not only had non-stop fishing for hours, we were surrounded by massive bait balls that were being fed on by huge humpback whales.
Our backdrop was one of towering coastal cliffs and the ocean was lit up by huge flukes, lunge feeders, and full body breaches by 30foot long animals.
at the day's end, we grilled and fried up the fish from the day, and watched shooting stars overhead.

so, y'know, that's why I do it :smt002

Live your life, the way you want to be remembered. Don't have any regrets, we only get this one dance to make it count. Start at your eulogy, and work backwards.
