Nobody here calls it "Cali".

Welcome  :smt006
WHAT? I call it Cali ALL the time. Born and raised in Cali.

Weird. I never hear that term here. Ever. It's like "Frisco". I only ever hear it when I'm not here.

Googling "don't call it Cali" seems to support my experience. I wonder if it's a generational thing. Or if you grew up on L.L. Cool J.
Doesn't the San Francisco chapter of the Hells Angeles have it as Frisco on their jackets. And ya I grow up on LL. Lol

I don't think I've ever met a hells angel. They can call it Frisco if they want to, but emperor Norton will come collecting his $25.

California, NorCal, SoCal, PRC (Peoples Republic of California), CenCal, and Jefferson are all in use. Cali, not so much.

Sonoma creek off of hwy 37, stripers n sturgeon, leopard shark sometimes.... Start at low tide early am is best. Best time for striped bass is in the fall. Norms bait shop in Vallejo off of Wilson stocks good bait. Carolina rig 2' if 25# leader 2/0 circle hook, 3-5 oz sinker, shimano baitrunner, set the drag lightly .. Let the bait drift with the current. Grass shrimp n mud suckers work best if you find bullheads let me know ... Good luck

Welcome to Sonoma county. Petaluma here. The grass can be a pain in the ass at Tomales Bay and Dillon beach at times.  You would do better shore fishing up the coast always. From the rocks up past Jenner if you want ocean fishing. Sonoma Creek where hi way 37 crosses it is a good place to try for stripers and possibly a sturgeon. Napa river too. Then there is pier fishing at places like paradise park in Marin county. They get halibut and stripers there all the time. The Petaluma river is decent for shore fishing sometimes right under the hi way 37 bridge. I would try to fish through the high tides there. If you are ever interested in kayak fishing send me a pm. There are a lot of nice guys in county that do love to fish. Cheers. My brother moved to Bonham,Texas about nine years ago. He hasn't been the same since.  :smt003

Welcome.

"Cali" is perfectly acceptable, as is "Frisco".

Cheers.

I started kayak fishing to get away from most of you...

Is this time of the year not good because of all the grass or is the grass a year around thing?
Yup...grass is a year round thing in Cali :-)

In a previous life I was a jack rabbit in West Texas.  Sex,  sex, sex all day long.    It's different here in California.   WELCOME.  Sonoma is a great place.  Get a kayak and get out in the water.  Lots more action.

Welcome tex......if you're a firearm owner and/or a fisherman be sure to read up on the regs and firearm regulations.   We like to make outdoor activities as illegal as possible.
