Has anyone launched out of Anchor Bay recently? Is the beach coming back?

I was last there at the end of last year and it was a pain to trek over the rocks to the northern area since the beach had washed out, or attempt to brave the surf closer to the ramp. I have plans to head up there soon and I am curious what kind of launch conditions to expect.

I launched there two weeks ago.  It was high tide so the northern beach was not accessible.  There was plenty of beach to launch on south of the rocks that separate the north/south.  Surf was 2-3 ft high.  Negotiated OK going out by waiting for a set of waves to end.  On the way back took a swim.  I thought I waited for the set to end, but on the way in, ended up on the crest of a wave and suffered the often experienced result!  But the short answer to your question is yes, the beach is coming back.

Sand goes away in the winter and rocks are exposed. Then the sand returns in the summer and covers up the rocks. This is true for the majority of open coastline in CA.

The beach will be making a special guest appearance for the LRC in November! It's already book.  :smt003

If not, everyone will be required to bring (2) 5-gallon buckets of sand with them to make a mini beach to launch from  :smt044
