Yes, we will be fish printing again!  Here are the details for the 4th Annual Gyotaku Extravaganza.

The event will be held on Saturday May 16th following the GS9 tournament from 2:30pm -4:30pm at the campground – it may be the same location as last year at the kayak/gear wash station near bathrooms or we may be setting up behind the stage. Final location and information of the event will be announced at the mandatory meeting Friday evening.  This event is open to all ages attending GS9.  Children MUST have parental supervision to participate.  NO exceptions!

This event does not happen successfully without the great help of volunteers. I am hoping those who helped me last year will again this year – and of course I am always looking for additional help! More the merrier! Volunteers, please PM me your email address so that I can provide you more volunteer info. Thanks!

The plan is for us be ready for all those interested in fish printing by or just before 2:30pm.  Please allow Team Gyotaku the opportunity to fully set up before you come over.

I am hoping to locate a covered tent to protect us and our artwork from the sun and winds (or rain?) as well provide more hanging areas. Does anyone have one or two I can borrow?

I will have at least two to three picnic tables for your fish printing creativity.  Provided will be newsprint, fabric paint (black, white, red, yellow, and blue), brushes, and possibly a limited amount of donated white t-shirts.  Bringing your own t-shirt(s), paper, table cloth, chef’s apron, whatever material you want to print your fish on is highly encouraged.  GS Gyotaku shirts can be purchased at the event for $20. And remember participating fish printing kids get a gyotaku shirt to fish print on for free! In both cases, while t-shirt supplies last. Donations to offset the material costs are always appreciated!!  The only thing you need to bring is a fish (we will not be providing fish) and the desire to make a print with it.  Please remember to take your fish with you after printing!

Once you have finished your fish print/shirt, we can take a photo of you and your print/shirt to share here on NCKA (optional) and hang your print / shirt to dry.

We will have a fish washing station to rinse the paint off your fish too.

Those who pre-order or purchase official GS Gyotaku shirts logo’d with ‘Gimme Shelter Gyotaku’, if you WEAR your freshly fish printed ‘Gimme Shelter Gyotaku’ t-shirt to the potluck, you have an opportunity to win a prize!  Sorry, prior years printed shirts, blank non GS Gyotaku or the GS9 shirts that come with your registration are not eligible. More information to come!

Let’s get ready to have some fun printing fish!!!!

Hi Brandi- I am happy that my child will get to participate in this GREAT activity!  I will purchase a XXL shirt for myself and her to decorate.  I will start the donations off with $20, and I am very happy to do it.

Brandi! There you are :-) Didn't see a thread for the Gyotaku and was bummed to think it had died by the wayside. So here we are again. I'd be stoked to help again and will plan on it.

Thanks so much for doing such a great job with the Gyotaku, Brandi!   :smt001

If you've never checked this part of GS out, I highly recommend it.  Get creative and make some art, or just go see others doing their thing.

Amos - glad you and your daughter will be joining the event!  I hope more parents and kids join in too! I will check on the availability of the XXL and get back to you.

Shannon - STOKED you'll be helping out again!

Jeff - STOKED Christine will be helping out again and cousin Sally too!  Yes please, the use of the 6' tables made a big difference last year and would be appreciative of being able to use them again this year - thanks!

Eelkram - thanks for the loan offer of the EZ up.  I will touch base soon.

Eric - thank you for your ever present support for this creative and fun event in conjunction with your event.

This year we are trying something new and different to hopefully mitigate some of those wind/sun challenges of past and increase the fun factor! We will be having an event tent, big enough to house two to three picnic tables.

Thank you Shannon, Christine, Sally, Sarah, Hailie, Hannah and Lauren for helping out again this year. I am still in need of volunteers so if you are interested in joining the Gyotaku Team, send me an email TheGWTC@yahoo.com or send me a PM.  Thanks!

I'm getting excited!  Are you?!

Hi Everyone!

I am hoping there might be some folks in the campground on Saturday about 12-12:30pm to help me set up an event tent.  Please let me know if you can help! Thanks!

My wife would probably like to join in and help with kids.   Should she just look for the big tent?

My daughter Ari is 2 years old, if she wants to do this it sounds like there will be shirts for kids? Did I read that right?

Kids print free, Victor, but we haven't hooked up on any kids' shirts, unfortunately.  I believe Brandi has some flags, so it's either that, butcher paper or an adult small (contingent on availability).  Maybe find a shirt or two in her wardrobe to turn into a Gyo?...
