So, a few months ago I bought a trident 13 from Ravensblack. Today was my first time fishing from it. Well from any kayak in the ocean actually. I launched at 0845 after dropping my son off at school. Paddled out to some rocks I had scouted weeks ahead of time. I fished a diamond bar jig 2.oz. and soon found myself on top of a school of blacks and blues. The fish finder was going mad marking fish. I couldn't get my jig to the bottom, I was in 60 ft of water and they were holding at 40. I only kept 5 since I didn't have my fish ID cards. And didnt want to be over on blacks. I lost a hook off my treble battling a good size something. Threw back a bunch of fish. I ended up keeping a 25" Ling and an olive along with the 5 blue/blacks

It was a very calm day. I only saw swell when the big boats went by. Not much wind, I was back on the beach by 1130. I attached a few pictures. Thanks for the Yak Ravensblack!

Thanks. I have every intention of getting a wetsuit. I just couldn't help but get out and bag some fish. If anyone has a real cheap medium hit me up.

Nice Catch!! I know its a bit more expensive but I just got a fantastic deal on a Kokatat Hydrus 3L dry suit for $489 from Clavey Paddlesports. They gave me incredible service and certain colors are 20% off right now.  Hope to be fishing with you guys soon.

You'll love fishing off your yak.  But, looking at your dress, I'd say you got lucky today.  Unless you have three inches of blubber surrounding your body, you need to get protected from hypothermia.  You want to have a long life with that son of yours.  Get a wet suit.  I'm going down your way Sunday, unless it gets snotty.

Mcnwy1438,

Way to catch those fishes.

I, for one, would say you got lucky today. Please do get at least a wet suit next time.

I've seen too many of the so called accidents.

Be safe.

Also, give us a shout out for some hook ups. Welcome to the madness.

Nice fish! I used to fish dressed like that, cold didnt bother me much, still almost never get cold, but immersion will drop your core fast, the guys are just lookin out for ya!  :smt006
You will never be the same now that you paddled out and caught fish! Changes a man, I must say for the better!
