Always do with Halibut, WSB, and Lings, Salmon and never had an issue personally.

I do, and watch out for the lions. Hate them. :smt013
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

Yes, but only for a few minutes (the bleed out faster in the water). Then throw em in the tankwell and cover with a burlap sack.

All most fell out of my kayak on Monday when the sea lion came and grabbed my stringer but I yanked it from him. It's scary

Did that sea lion grab you in the bay or ocean?   In the bay I've never even seen sea lions around, only harbor seals and they tend to be pretty shy.  In the ocean, sea lions would be the least of my concerns hanging a bleeding fish next to my legs....

What Pat said. Also, I also suggest attaching your stringer leash to your paddle keeper line or use elastic cord as your stringer leash. This might give you a few more seconds to figure out what's up and possibly cut the line and/or smack the fur bag with your beater stick before he flips yoazzz. 2cents

I had a harbor seal follow me for most of the morning at Paradise this past Monday.  That thing was pretty dang close a few times, and I'm going to blame it for my skunk  :smt003

the only good fish in the water ,is a live fish in the water..if it has a hook..then its water days are over...I wont be swimming or capsizing to "keep my meat fresh"...never had anyone say..hmmm ..this fish tasted bad..or hmmm..did you let it bleed out?...

I dont even bleed em..but thats me...there is enough noise and blood and elec signals coming from my yak..no need to chum..

this year too I'm going to try to club them and un hook them without causing a bleeder,,had a few fill all my scuppers dents and crannies last season with blood..
